The Real McCain, A liar!

Post by Dr. Chris »

You saw the McCain the RNC wanted you to see at their convention. You heard him, curiously, admit that he is "imperfect" and has "made mistakes" to prep you for attacks that would surely come. Fortunately for him, the Democrats are afraid of going too negative on the 72 year old war hero and the mainstream media is afraid of losing partisan viewers/readers or sponsors. But I have no connection to the Democratic Party, I have no sponsors, and I believe every voter deserves to know the rest of this candidate's story...

I live in Arizona. I applauded John for his maverick moments in the past, then I cringed as he marched in line with his party and this President in all the worst ways over the past 8 years. Now, given his Presidential bid, I was compelled to dig deeper. If I had met him in town 6 months ago, I would have said, "Sir. I knew John McCain. John McCain was a Senator of mine for 22 years. You sir, are no John McCain!" If I met him today I would have to add, "and you never were!"

Sure, all candidates lie. But I found more lies per square inch of candidate in John Mccain than any other candidate in my lifetime. It's as if he has given himself license to lie because his image is buffered by occasional sprinkles of unpolished candor and a "straight talk" logo on his bus.

I believe it is tragic that the extent to which we have NOT held the current administration accountable for their lies, cover-ups, corruption, and that cronyism has empowered them to believe they can slip another pair of phonies into the White House fueled by even bigger and more brazen deceptions. To see them punished at the polls would be a first step towards justice. Then, if the Democrats don't make significant reforms in the next 2 years, and they don't have the Republicans in their way as an excuse, I'd like to see them fired too!

(1) regarding a flag issue in 2000, Mccain said "I feared that if I answered honestly, I could not win the South Carolina primary" and later wrote In his book that he knew "it could come down to lying or losing. I chose lying." (Perhaps in his next book, he will express remorse for selecting Sara Palin as VP to win an election rather than do what is best for the country. He also wrote: "I didn't decide to run for president to start a national crusade for the political reforms I believed in or to run a campaign as if it were some grand act of patriotism. In truth, I wanted to be president because it had become my ambition to be president. I was 62 years old...and I thought it was my one shot at the prize."

(2) Mccain had multiple affairs on his first wife, carol, and still contradicts his own divorce papers about the timing of his infidelity with cindy and the fact that they got their new marriage license before his divorce was final. (When McCain returned from Vietnam he found that Carol, a former swimsuit model, had been in a bad car accident that left her with a disability and that she had put on significant weight. Cindy was a wealthy beauty queen, 18 years younger than John)

(3) Mccain was part of the worst ethics scandal in the history of the senate as one of the "keating 5" who tried to protect a fraudulent savings and loan owner who contributed to their campaigns. (William Black, one of the lead investigators, stated, "on judgement, ethics, and truthfulness, he failed this test as badly as you can fail")

(4) McCain, admitedly, didn't know how to eject from his first plane crash because he hadn't read the manual, knocked down power lines flying another plane too low, and graduated military school in the bottom 5% of his class. (McCain wrote in his book: "My reputation was certainly not enhanced when I knocked down some power lines while flying too low over southern Spain. My daredevil clowning had cut off electricity to a great many Spanish homes and created a small international incident." But, the blame in Spain does not fall soley on McCain's plane. They were insulted this week when McCain was asked by a radio host if he would meet with the Spanish President, our Nato ally. Instead of simply saying "yes" he went into John Wayne McCain mode.

(5) mccain lies on pittsburgh tv, claiming that he recited the names of pittsburgh steeler's players to vietnam interrogators. (In his book, he names the Greenbay Packers)

(6) (**speculation alert**) did mccain plagiarize the story about the good Samaritan guard who loosens his ropes and draws a cross in the sand? (The story is strikingly similar to Alexander Solzhenitsyn's from his time in the Soviet Gulags. McCain has read Solzhenitsyn's book and has praised him in an editorial he wrote but never mentioned the terrific coincidence that he and his hero had the same experience? And he never mentioned the story in the 12,000 word account he wrote when he returned from Vietnam. Instead, he wrote this story:

"I was being forced to stand up continuously.... I'd stood up for a couple of days, with a respite only because one of the guards—the only real human being that I ever met over there —let me lie down for a couple of hours while he was on watch the middle of one night."

The alleged loosening of his ropes happens when he was moved to another camp. Was there this 2nd good guard who proundly inspired him but he forgot to mention until 1999, within months of writing the Solzhenitsyn editorial? In 2000, he told the story as if it happened to someone else:

"Many years ago a scared American prisoner of war in Vietnam was tied in torture ropes by his tormentors and left alone in an empty room to suffer through the night. Later in the evening a guard he had never spoken to entered the room and silently loosened the ropes to relieve his suffering. Just before morning, that same guard came back and re-tightened the ropes before his less humanitarian comrades returned. He never said a word to the grateful prisoner, but some months later, on a Christmas morning, as the prisoner stood alone in the prison courtyard, the same good Samaritan walked up to him and stood next to him for a few moments. Then with his sandal, the guard drew a cross in the dirt. Both prisoner and guard both stood wordlessly there for a minute or two, venerating the cross, until the guard rubbed it out and walked away" (note: the cross is drawn with a stick, not the guards foot, in his Xmas self-promo)

(7) mccain lies (with a laugh) about being in a soundproof "cone of silence" before his turn at the saddleback debate but he was really in his motorcade.

(8) mccain lies about his support for bush's tax cuts though he voted against them twice, saying it was "against his conscience to support tax cuts for the rich, in a time of war"

(9) mccain Lies about sarah palin opposing "the bridge to nowhere" and that she sold the state plane on ebay for a profit (you probably already know this lie, but you may not know that the McCain campaign kept repeating the lie, dozens of times after it was already exposed. Why? Because lies work. A CBS News article entitled How McCain Reconciles Lies With Honor outlines a recent study by political scientists who found that even after a lie is disproven the myth remains. The article summizes that, "McCain's untruths, in their frequency and their audacity, defy any modern historical precedent")

(10) to add to her legend, the mccain campaign endorsed a lie about sarah palin winging it due to a teleprompter malfunction during her acceptance speech (a speech written by G.W.Bush's speech writer, btw. The campaign is also lying to the press about the size of the crowds at their rallies by multiples of 2 or 3)

(11) Mccain says sarah palin "knows more about energy than anyone else in the united states" and he and palin both claim that "alaska produces 20% of U.s. energy" (The true figure is 3.5% of our total energy (14% of our oil) and Sarah doesn't even know that!)

(12) mccain lies about his intention to run a clean campaign (McCain ads this election are widely acknowledged as achieving new lows in dirty campaigning. Most notorious, is a McCain ad claiming that Obama's support for warning children about potential predators was Obama's proposal to "teach sex education to kindergartners who haven't learned to read yet". McCain after being exposed on that lie has now stopped that ad.

(13) The mccain campaign's response to a joke he told about a women enjoying being raped by an ape and left to die is that it is just an example of "mccain being mccain" (other examples of McCain being McCain include his joke about Chelsea Clinton being ugly, his joke suggesting that exporting cigarettes to Iranians is "a way of killing them", and him singing "bomb, bomb, Iran" to a Beach Boys tune.

(14) mccain's temper causes many to question his fitness to be president, including Republican senator Thad cochran who said the thought "sends a cold chill down my spine" (Cochran watched McCain physically rough up an associate of Nicaraguan President Ortega on a diplomatic mission in 1987. Major-General Paul Eaton says, "I'm a little worried about his knee-jerk response factor... I think it is a little scary". A Salon.com reporter said, "I interviewed people who like John McCain...They're saying that this guy really loses his mind sometimes, to the point where he should not have his finger on the button". A senior official who worked with McCain told the Washington Post,"John McCain is far and away the most emotional politician I have ever met... He reacts emotionally, therefore unpredictably."

(15) (**speculation alert**) did a red faced mccain respond to his wife playfully teasing him about his thinning hair by saying "At least I don't plaster on the makeup like a trollop, you c**t"? (This incident is reported by the author of "The Real McCain" who sourced 3 Arizona reporters, on the condition of anonymity, who were on the campaign trail with John. The author speculates that, in 1992, the story was not printed because there was no way to make it suitable for family newspapers. -- more on this story John earned numerous demerits and the nickname "McNasty" in his early years because he, allegedly, liked to pick on people.

(16) Mccain complied with the requirement to release his medical records this year by giving a select group of press only 3 hours to review 1173 pages of his medical and psychiatric records (We know he's had melanoma removed 4 times, there is a 66% chance of it recurring in 10 years, and 8 years have passed. He suffers from high blood pressure, high cholesterol, arthritis, and vertigo, is on 6 medications, and is at risk for having smoked 2 packs of cigarettes a day for 25 years. What else is he hiding?

The 1st amendment allows the usual liberal narcissistic "I think.." which is how they start all their sentences.

The second amendment protects us from implementing "I think"
