look i dont care what you beleave but i have a ? how can you support this stuff. this is the greatest country in the world. we are only a couple of hundered years old.there are other countries that are thousands of years old. so they should be way a head of us but most comodies are traded in thr dollar.so why do we want to shift our system over to theres if ours is so much better.whats wrong with the principals that we were founded on.why cant we go back to the constition and follow it not try to rewrite.if we did that hr 45 wouldnt even be there to be voted on because we have the right to bear arms. tell me a place where big gov has worked?

That is just it. As a nation we are a child. When Bronze age Egypt reached it's pinnacle they had Forts which had stood a full 300 yrs... a 100 yrs longer then we have been around. The area between the Tigris and Euphrates rivers (modern day Iraq) was the birthplace of so many things that were, at the time, technological or philosophical advancements. Today we call them "Ragheads"... because their nation reached it's peak thousands of years ago.

We are not the best in the world... just the best in the world at this moment. Now I am sure alot of you will take what I have just said as unpatriotic. But it's the truth. We, as a nation, are only the best in the world at this moment. It's easy for us to believe our own hype. We invented the automobile. We invented the airplane. Our armies have fought pitched battles the world over and rarely lost. In the course of history the nation we are so proud of is just a drop in the bucket. And that foolish pride is what alot of the rest of the world doesn't like about Americans. That is what gives us the title "Ugly Americans"... it's not our looks... it's our "my-crap-don't-stink" attitude. No nation has a manifest destiny. History has taught us that time and time again.

But what I see today are kids that feel entitled to luxuries. They take for granted the PS 2 they're playing. After all we live in the greatest nation of the world. I see teenagers expecting their parents to buy their first car for them. After all we live in the greatest nation of the world. I see adults assuming their kids deserve those luxuries. After all we live in the greatest nation of the world... our kids deserve the best.

But if we are the best why would our children think they have to work hard to be better? They don't... Because we are the greatest nation in the world

While I do agree with the idea that kids today feel entitled, I have to strongly disagree with the statement that we are ONLY the best in the world RIGHT NOW. To try and compare ANY extended existence as a country to ours is foolish. The advances in technology, ideas and freedom that we enjoy are incomparable. We ARE great because we BELIEVE that we are great. That belief has spurred us on for over two hundred years to achieve greatness and to dream as big as we want to. Obama comes in and wants to throw a wet blanket on the aspirations of MILLIONS of us with his excessive taxation, doom and gloom dire predictions...thats not a LEADER, thats a TYRANT. The United States of America is and has been the GREATEST NATION ON EARTH, for all history. Those that believe the Bible will remember the reason if you choose to read a bit. God told Abraham that he would make of him a great nation, and BLESS THOSE THAT BLESS YOU, AND CURSE THOSE THAT CURSE YOU. We have, since 1945 supported the nation of ISRAEL and our continued blessings from God depend on that support continuing. Dont be surprised though, Clinton is already laying the groundwork for the withdrawal of support by the US for Israel. When that happens, look out....just as a history lesson: Does anyone remember what happened in the world shortly before Hurricane Katrina devastated the US?? Yes we have made some amazing technological advancements. But every great Empire listed so far could boast the same. That is what made them great... at that moment in history. And now those Empires are just another Nation.

What will make us "just another nation" is our acceptance of mediocrity, our reluctance to tell people that they are lazy and need to get off their worthless butts and be productive, our idea that its OK to be a leech and mooch off of the prosperity of others. Some of what you said doubleEagle is true, things do change, the sun doesn't shine on the same dog forever, but some of what you said is hogwash. It is true that americans have become complacent and reliant on anything but themselves but the american dream is built on people striving to be all they can not government taking it upon itself to take from some and give to others. Another commonality those empires had was they allowed their kings/leaders to have too much control which is exactly what the Obama administration is trying to do with these bailouts and getting more control over the banks, auto industry, healthcare and so on.
