No, Mr. President, parents do not send their kids to private schools because of "anti-government" ideologies, nor does their choice result in less opportunity. They send their kids to these schools because, frankly, the public alternatives are terrible

This guy just doesn't get it. We do not live in a nation where the common good is some dominant aspect of our daily lives. We live in a society that has flourished and IS DEFINED by its belief in individual purpose and individual ends, bounded by rules. We do not live in a planned society where the common good is the goal of everyone.

Just to be sure before I make a decision on the validity of his statement, did you attend a private or public school.

My neighbour home schooled her son and four daughters. The son is in graduate school. The youngest is in college getting her BS. One daughter is teaching in Arizona. Two have bee teaching school and Christianity in Nigeria and Jordan for the past several years. One took a voyage around the globe on a Mercy ship giving aid health resources to the poor. Now compare and contrast the contributions of Obama and Michelle. Both have been at the public trough all their lives.
