How likely is it for a puppy who is undershot just slightly to get a correct bite when the adult teeth come in? Has anyone had experience with this? I have a gorgeous male puppy, mostly show bred, that I need to make a cull decision on.

If its slight and the puppy is relatively young there is a chance it could come around. The bottom jaw can float a bit. I had a litter that I had to grow up until they were 5 1/2 months. 3 had slight undershot bites and only one ended up with a bite I couldn't keep. I am just now breeding the first bitch from that litter so, we'll see if we have it again. The dam of the litter never produced a bad bite in 4 litters.

Hey, how did it ever turn out with this pup???

He's getting his adult teeth now, but it looks like he'll be about 1/2 inch undershot. Gorgeous black and tan male. Has two beautiful littermate sisters, so I'll probably start him in the field just to see what he can do. I'll use his sisters for breeding, assuming they hunt to suit me. I won't breed to the male.

Wise decision!!! And if he can't hunt he can make some kid a nice pet I hope
