Uno on tour

Hi all!! I just finally returned home today after Kathy and I went on a
whirlwind press tour with Uno! Originally this was mainly for an appearance at
Purina Headquarters but, once the press got wind that Uno the Beagle was in
town it got crazy. Kathy and I need shirts that say "I'm with the dog" LOL
Our visit to Peoria to meet Rosemary was just the beginning! I was supposed
to fly home on March 2nd after the Belleville dog show where the club
graciously gave us a booth to let Uno meet the VERY proud people of Belleville
Illinois. We must have had around 600 or more visitors in 2 days. Some brought
presents, Some just cried but, most of all they ALL smiled and were So proud
of him and had stories of their own beagle who they grew up with. Thanks goes
to Purina on that one to for making sure we had whatever we needed. After
the show on Sat I decided that Monday was going to be too crazy for Kathy to
do alone and I extended my ticket until Tuesday. Monday was a visit to the
Three Dog Bakery where Uno posed for pictures with all proceeds benefiting the
Barkley House which is similar to the Ronald McDonald house for children.
Barkley house is located near the university of Columbia Veterinary School. We
had a few other appearances that day and on Tues morning Kathy was to fly to
Chicago and I was to come home but, Mother nature had other plans for us in
STL. As I sat looking out the window of the airport watching my plane being
covered with snow and not being able to see much past the nose of it I KNEW
we were probably not going anywhere. At about 9:45am they announced the
airport was closed for the remainder of the day. Kathy had been on a plane for
almost 2 hours at that point waiting to take off so, they taxied back in and we
met up and pondered what to do. The lieutenant Governor of Illinois was
waiting to declare Uno day and Aaron had flown in to take Uno back to SC. As
we drove along in a complete whiteout we decided we'd just keep going and
drive to Chicago. The roads were horrible but, it wasn't as bad as it had been
at the airport and we did hit some spots that were ok. We Arrived in Chicago
Tues Evening (no snow there) and "UNO day" was proclaimed for March 5th
2008. I'm sure glad to be home but, we had a wonderful time with a wonderful dog
who makes everyone he meets very very happy.
What's next!?? We'll let you know as soon as we do!
