The tracking is up to 9 miles but what is the distance on the shocking itself? Really interested in this unit. If anyone is using this system please let me know what the ranges are and how easy of use it is.

Thanks

If you can track you can "train" regardless of distance. The handheld and collars communicate with each other by VHF radio signal. Each receives info on its location by GPS then the handheld and collars "talk" to each other by VHF to "tell" each other where they are. The key to tracking or shocking is the VHF signal. The satellites just tell whatever part of the system where it is on the planet, VHF communication does the rest.

I'm in the mountains in Tennessee and I regularly see about 2 miles (when I drive out and check, never lost communication in a hunting situation). The Trashbreakers "2 mile" range was lucky to get to a mile, around 3/4 was more likely.

Ease of use is what you put into it. If you just take a little time and read the material then play around with it then it's no problem at all, I have a 4 dog unit and I can tone all for dogs in just a few seconds. If you have any experience at all with the Astro then the Alpha is a second nature as they operate very similarly. If not just read a little and mess around a while and you'll be fine. I'm by no means a guru on the thing but glad to answer any questions I can.

How many collars will the Alpha handle and is there a price decrease with additional collars? Also, do you take any trade ins? I have a Tritronics 70 g2 expandable w/ 5 collars and a an original 70 with 3 collars all in excellent condition. I run 8 in my pack.
Thank You in advance! !! :D

WTV there is no price breaks on the Alpha or collars. Garmin controls the pricing. You can run your pack of 8 on the Alpha no problem. Please call me to discuss your options. Thanks. 330-256-0530.
