Small and lightweight. Range up to 4 miles. We are averaging 2.1-3.10 miles. We tried a straight line of sight (as straight as we could get) and was able to get 3.22 miles from the mini TT 15 (this was the exception...not the rule...as dogs will be in brush or in thick brush). The mini T 5 was not tracking (we turned it off so we could capture the mini TT 15 distance reading). Here is a screen shot of the line of sight distance test:
Battery life is 16-30 hours. This will all depend on how you use your Alpha or Astro (did you remember to charge it...how fast is your update rate, did you run the lights, etc...). We use a fast update rate for our dog devices. This image is after 14 straight hours of leaving the dog device on, we used lights for about an hour (pre-dawn). After 14 hours, this is what the battery indicator looked like (so, realistically, we could probably get about another 1-2 hours out of the dog device):
