Old/Free dog wanted

Post by Skip » Thu Aug 17, 2017 2:49 pm

I'm not into running dogs like I used to, my interest has shifted to fishing. I used to keep 4 or 5 running dogs. I am now down to one 8 or 9 year old female beagle. This dogs life long kennel mate mother (Buttermilk Tom girl) died just a few months ago. Since then, she has been lonely and sad. I'd like to get another companion dog to put in with her.

What I'm looking for is:

* Older dog. At least 7 years old, even older would be better. I'm not wanting a dog that will outlive the one I have
* Good tempered dog. The only reason I would be getting another dog is ONLY for my dogs companionship
* Male or female doesn't really matter. A neutered male would be great, but I'm not fussy
* Doesn't even need to be a beagle, but around same size as a beagle (20 - 50 pounds)
* Good health. Don't want to nurse a dog back to health
* From Michigan (I'm from Swartz Creek, which is mid Michigan area)
* Free

This dog would share a 200 square foot "on-ground" chain link kennel with my dog. Kennel has an aluminum insulated dog house that is also heated in the winter. This kennel is inside an 1/2 acre fenced in backyard. Dogs get to run/exercise at LEAST 3 - 4 times a week in the back yard. I feed Purina, and give good care to my dogs.

If anyone has a dog like this that they don't run anymore, but wants a good home for it....well maybe we can help each other out.

IF YOU HAVE ANYTHING, PLEASE LET ME KNOW ASAP. I HAVE A FELLOW OFFERING ME A 5 YEAR OLD DOG. ID MUCH RATHER FIND AN OLDER DOG. I ASKED HIM TO HOLD THIS DOG FOR A WHILE. IF I DON'T FIND ANYTHING OLDER, I MIGHT TAKE HIS DOG. ID LIKE TO LET THAT GUY KNOW AS SOON AS I CAN

Thanks,
Skip Ray

P.S. I will likely get back in to running hounds again someday....but between a full time job, running my own business, fishing on weekends, I just don't have the time to run dogs right now. I know someday I'll get the itch again.
