magnum research BFR 45LC/410 QUESTION!

Post by team fudd »

I am hoping to get more response from this forum so here goes, I am thinking seriously of purchasing a BFR in 45/410, I wanted to see if anybody had firsthand experience with this gun, I know all about the encore and judge, I just want too see how the BFR stacks up, particularly against the encore. Effective range, loads, etc, any and all info would sure be appreciated, thanks!

I can't give any info on this gun BUT, I've wanted one for some time and will be waiting for some responses. Maybe you won't get a lot of answers, only because of the price of the Magnum. That's what has kept me from purchasing it. $1000.00 is pretty steep to shoot hare. I'm still saving my pennies.

I do not have the big revolver. I use T.C. contender.
But my brother -in-law owns one. I have shot it and it is a nice handgun. Real beefy and fun to shoot. I think the only advantage of his gun over mine is he has 5 shots and I have one. Other than that they both shoot about the same. #5's pattern the best out of mine, but are hard for me to find, so I mostly use #6's in 3 inch. I would say the effective range is 30-35 yrds. tops. The pattern opens alot past that.

thank you for a reply, keep em comin, nice to hear real world results about one, I would be ectstatic to get that kind of range out of one. I dont have anything against the encore, They are a fine gun, I just like the looks of the bfr, and the five shot capability, and I dont have to have one today, got a wall safe full of guns to shoot bunnies with, so I will save my pennies and eventually purchase one. For now I mostly use old doubles, my favorite being a 1930's iver johnson double in 16 ga with some really nice wood. I just do a lot of hunting with a handgun for big game and would love to do the same with rabbits. Again, please keep posting any real world experience you have with this gun. I would like to get as much info as I can before I drop cash like that. Probably gonna be at least six more months before I can save enough, Hopefully by then I will have the answers I need. Thanks!
