changing the choke

I'm just thilnking aloud on this one- I have an H & R single shot 12 guage. It has a modified choke. This not an expensive gun, & I was wondering - I thought about having an adjustable choke installed on it, ( but that would be more than it's worth) or just havin the barrel shortened to where it's am inproved cylinder choke. I don't know if this is even possible or worth the expence. It might be a better deal to trade it off on a 12 guage pump with factory srew in chokes. What's your-alls opinion?

save the 50-75 you would spend having done what your wanting and sell your single shot and put it towards a used mossberg pump gun with screw in chokes... you can buy used ones all day for $150 bucks around my area. there cheap shotguns and can take a considerable amount of abuse.
