Late June Sorghum/Millet

Post by BrownBear »

Planted this piece on 6/21/14, late June. We had so much rain I couldn't get on the ground earlier. This was the 1st time I tried planting Millet. I went light on the rate because I threw in some clover blends, and grasses to hopefully come on later. Not an ideal time to plant clovers. Caught rain almost every week since planting. Drilled a blend of 8 lbs/ac. Sorghum and 10 lb/ac Proso Millet. Along with 1 1/2 lb per acre sunflower and 5 lb/ac soybean which I broadcast. I was thrilled with the results. Pics taken 7 1/2 weeks later on 8/12/14. Waiting for the millet to dry up so I can mow some lanes and let the clover come on.

Looks good, Shane. Millets make good cover as well as browse that deer don't like too well.
