Things change a lot in 30 years! When I first started going to the land we bought from my mother-in-law, I could see a knoll, 1/4 mile off the road, where our house now sits. Today, I can't even see the house from the road, even in the winter. Several trees, mostly box elder and elm have grown up. The understory is gray dogwood thickets, a few crab apples, sassafras, popple, ash, wild rose and a handful of oaks on the drier ground. I started cutting the big trees and plan to use the tops for ready-made brush piles. The elm I can use for a base for other brush piles as it is very rot resistant. Having the canopy reduced will encourage berry canes to sprout. All good stuff for rabbits.
