just my 2 cents nkc dont minus for rough running but will not tolerate trash races . and babbling all day long...so honest dont go in that akc. rabbit. catagory. if they would inforce some of these issues. they would have better and bigger trailes.seen to many dogs run trash half the day then gather em up .run em again and give some one a win .....its wrong ..take a rabbit dog to a rabbit trail,,,,no offence ment .all formats have eras need to work on...freak of nature.

I have judged all over the midwest from the straits to jessamine even the spo natl. championship and NEVER! one time have myself or anyother judge that I have judged with including Greg wells has said pick a dog because of te format that the dog normally runs in.I agree that a good dog is a good dog. It is this type of talk that keeps our sport from growing and improving because some other beagler wants to stir the pot. I do not know the dog , owner , or the person that placed the original post but I hope in the future that regardless of the format, that everyone just support the sport and layoff the trash talking.

I've been an AKC judge for 10 or 12 years and I can tell you right now that these judges have an awful lot more on their plates than wondering if a particular hound runs another format. Sounds as though this Scooter dog is successful because he runs a rabbit the right way, not because he runs a particular format. Congratulations to his owner who has the good sense to enter him in whatever format he is inclined to.

Kevin,
Congratulations on finishing Scooter.
In reply to the ARHA vs AKC:
There are good and bad in both. If anyone says it is just as easy to finish a dog in ARHA as it is the AKC then you have lost your mind. It takes one win and 100 points to finish in ARHA. ARHA places dogs and awards points all the way back to 10 places. There are trials almost every weekend and a lot of them rarely have more than 25 dogs in the open class. You take into consideration that a dog can win a cast without even running a rabbit by means of "hunt and handle" and it doesn't take long to have a top 5. I had a buddy get his win on his dog and she didn't run a rabbit all day. She won 2 rounds on "hunt and handle". That's just not right. I will say that his dog is a good dog and would have probably gotten her win anyway, but it still doesn't make it right.
To finish in AKC you have to have 3 wins and 120 points. YOU ARE NOT GOING TO GET THOSE 3 WINS WITHOUT RUNNING A RABBIT! I will continue to go to both formats, but will tell you that I enjoy the AKC trials more, because the competition is stronger from front to back. The top dogs in ARHA can win in AKC, but the weaker ones will never place. The top dogs in AKC can win in ARHA and the weaker ones can still place in ARHA even if by means of luck. The ARHA dog that makes Grand Champion is a different story. Five wins at a minimum of three different clubs is an accomplishment that not many are going to achieve. Those dogs should be recognized and given their due respect. I hope that I didn't offend anyone, but look at objectively and you can't argue these points.
Congratulations on finishing Scooter.

Pete I agree with you in may way. It maybe alot harder to get a win in AKC and dog can luck up and get a win in LP. I also agree that a good dog in AKC will do good in LP. In my opinion a dog is not finish out in LP till it is a Grand(this is only my opinion). I think it's crazy when someone puts down different a format because they have a different style. If a dog is good it's just good no matter what you run in NKC, AKC,UKC or PKC

he also won the pkc world hunt.
scooter is a true rabbit dog, clean as a wistle and in hey day one of the best, and truth is he can still make the young dogs look stupid, scooter still runs every day,he is in forest kerns runnin pen trainin young dogs,i ran with scooter back before the world hunt this year,he was down with about 7 or eight dogs, even at the ripe age of 8 years he was leadin the pack at times and turnin rabbits right out of the pack and gettin way out there before the younger dogs realized they over run it.
scooter is reproducin nicely,he had two pups finish 3rd and 5th this year at the world hunt.
that is pretty good for a true 13 in dog, but, thats scooby for ya,he is like ringo,no one told him he was a 13 in hound

yes,he throws both 15 and 13,to be honest,i have seen more 14 and 15 in dogs than 13 in.he throws line cotrol, hard hunting hounds.and you can not rattle them, they will run all day long with anything you throw them down with.he has a 15 in male pup, cash,he is 3 yrs old i believe,he finished 5th this world hunt and has wins in akc,and willie moe is a 13 in male that only needs one win to be akc champion.
