First off this is no disrespect to Don and Lilly and the fact that what they are doing is nothing short of amazing.

I will have to admit that there probably hasn't been a dominate dog such as Lilly for quite some time. I was only stating a hound that was dominate in it's time.

I don't know about you but a hound that has almost enough wins and points to be an FC 3 times over, (8 wins and almost 300 points), IS a dominate dog, IMHO!

I only wonder how Peeka-Boo would have done if she had as much time on the ground as Lilly, solo or not. Don told me he runs her at least 4 day a week, at least 3 hours a day but more often than not 6 hours a day, nothing but solo I might add, and that is a minimum. And that doesn't even count the time at field trials. That's a lot of time for one dog, especially solo. I've got 2 jobs and can only muster about 3 days at 2 to 3 hours a day.

A dominate dog is a dominate dog. Peeka-Boo was in her time almost as well as Lilly is in her's.

Taken from Merriam-Websters dictionary:

dom·i·nate

dom·i·nate [dómmə nàyt]
(past and past participle dom·i·nat·ed, present participle dom·i·nat·ing, 3rd person present singular dom·i·nates)
vti
1. control: to have control, power, or authority over somebody or something
2. be prominent: to be the most important aspect or element of something
3. be influential: to have a prevailing influence on somebody or something
4. tower above area: to overlook an area from a prominent and usually elevated position

Peeka-Boo met 1,2 and 3. I don't know how many times at a trial I heard somebody say that they were running for second place when they would see Peeka-Boo show up, just like now for Lilly.

Again congrats to Don and Lilly. It seems Lilly may be THE most dominate dog ever but there have been a few before her.

Chief

First of all peeka-boo was and probably still is to this day a very good hound. Of anyone that may get on this board I personally have more time spent in the field with "peeka" (field name) other than Duane Mahaffey. Let me expain futher with some history. The first time I saw peeka was at jessamine county beagle clubs license trial I was judging at. At this paricular time Mr. Greg Parrot owned peeka and after the trial (peeka was 4th) that day Chad Peercy asked me about her because he was looking for another female to try and finish. At the time he needed only a few points to finish his first FC. I told him what I thought of her and later on he bought her.

What most of us know is that Chad wasn't the only person running his dogs mostly peeka. Chief trust me and can honeslty say "peeka" was ran just as much as Lilly on a weekly basis if not more. The only difference would be the solo time. I can say with confidence peeka was never soloed nearly as much as Lilly. Which goes back to my origninal statement all I can say boys solo solo solo. I believe in soloing just as much as Don does and it shows with Lilly what can be accomplished with time spent and what type of commitment it takes to develope this type of hound. This is why when I hear these guys complain about getting picked up you find out or talk to them and they say........ Oh I run once maybe twice a week for a couple of hours!!!!! And they dont get it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Chief, Peeka is an excellent hound and I would own her for sure. And she did have a good run in her class no denying that. And since there are four points that define the word "dominance" allow me to offer my opinion. I would say "peeka" also scores 75% or 3/4 according to your requirments however I do have a varieance. I see peeka meeting the requirments of number 2, 3, and 4 but not definition 1.

On the other hand Lilly meets all 4 of your requirments. In my opinion the most important criteria that seperates Lilly's dominance from many other solid hounds is she has the ability to have control, power, athourity over something. It's one thing to be the most important, to have prevailing influence, to be able to feel like your are looking from above can be obtained however the most difficult thing to do is have total power, authority and control like Lilly.

Keep runnin those hounds folks.

Steve I couldn't agree with you more. This is Lilys post and I don't think anyone wants to take anything away from her and Don. That is a great accomplishment. Way To GO!! Don if you see this don't forget about our SPO coming up in the NMHA. Trial is at Borderline. May 8th 9th and 10th. There are fellas coming from Ohio to judge and run in this event. Whatever you choose to do you have a one in a million dog there. Good job and I too hope she hits 20 wins this season.

The more some people talk the less they should!!!!

These discussions over what is a dominate dog never go anywhere but disagreements. When the discussion is about one dog someone always has to bring up anothers name. I have said it several times run what you like and like what you run.

Ridgeview is exactly right, Peeka was ran many many hours or she wouldn't have had the wins and points she had. :) That was the kind of dog she was. She was a very good dog that was on a fine line with a big nose, I have seen the fine line go both ways. 300+ true, how many other dogs may have done this if they ran for the Better Beagling Award All year long. There would be a few. Not even a fair statement with difference in class sizes. Let's see Jed-I had what 9 wins and Roscoe had 10 I think, don't quote me. So there are several hounds out there in that class. Are they better than Peeka, that is your opinion! No disrespect to the dog or to Chief like I said before you had to be there!

Well, at least you guys are jumping all over me because I said something good about someone or something. What a change eh? I don't mean to tick any body off here. Let's just all calm down.

Someone on here just asked a simply question about something and I gave my opinion, (by the way, I wasn't the only one who mentioned Peeka-Boo, hint--hint). I never disrespected Don or Lilly here. If anything, I said just the opposite on all the other "Congrats" topics that Fuzz has put on here for them and there have been a few. She is the best I've ever seen I'll admit. I should know because we had a dog in just about every one of Lilly's winners packs in the Midwest so I got a lot of chances to see her. If I were to count I would say I was there for 7 of her wins and her only second place before this past weekend.

I will be the first here on this topic to admit I'm wrong. I misread the question the person was asking if there has been a dog that has dominated just as much as Lilly. I took it to ask if any other dog has dominated a class. Sorry, I saw Peeka-Boo run twice and she must have been on her game those 2 days. She impressed the heck out of me along with a few other people and she seem to have won just about every time out as well at that time.

There was one hunt in Kentucky where she finished first and they hung her blue ribbon on their antenna of their vehicle during a down pour of rain. I thought to myself that they must be real use to winning all the time with her since they left that blue ribbon out in the rain.

So in closing, I'm sorry if I rubbed somebody wrong here. That was in no way my intent. And shoot me if I like somebody else’s dog. Don and Lilly, you guys ARE the best I've ever seen. By they way Ridge View, I can't agree more on the solo thing. I've seen it make a difference on just about every dog I run that way.
