scenting

Post by PREACHERS KENNEL »

do u let scenting determine how long a run must go before u consider a line is made?to score a check.or for that matter a dog on clock makeing a line to gert a strike?

in my opinion it only makes sense to that the line has to be shorter on bad scenting day .. WHAT SAY YE!

Being a beagle is a "scent hound" and scenting conditions can change minute by minute, you are just in your opinion.

Weather conditions here (in NC) have been extremely dry lately. In our two running pens, all the water sources have completely dried up and the dirt is just dust or hard pan. There is hardly any dew in the ams, and what does fall, is gone by 8am. Then the breezes pick up! Needless to say, scenting conditions have sucked here!
It is harder to keep a run going under these circumstances and I feel we should take this into consideration when judging, running, or hunting.

We sometimes expect to much from our furry little friends!

scenting

scenting conditions determine whether I will give a dog a peck it along check or not. If scenting is good then I expect them to line it out, if it is bad, I will credit the dog that grubs it out and keeps the race going.
