when the dates for the nationals in the US. are picked do they consider if there is a canadian trail that same weekend???????

unknown, you might need to clarify your post a little. U.S. Nationals leaves it kinda wide open. UKC Nationals, ARHA PP Nationals, SPO Nationals, AKC Large Pack Nationals, etc. I'm assuming you mean AKC LP Nationals since you mentioned Canada. The AKC LP Natl's are usually held the first weekend in November.
Canadian Nationals date is not set based upon what U.S. trials are doing. They have other obstacles up there they must contend with before setting their date. I believe their 2003 trial is set for Dec 7.
You might want to check out the "News From The North" forum. (two forums below this one) where it covers Large Pack on hare, etc. You might find answers to your questions there. Sorry you didn't get a quicker response.
