putting numbers on dogs
for trials that have to have a number put on both sides of the dog what do yall use what product or w/e to put thenumber on
numbers
The paint is provided by the club hosting the trial. When you enter your dog they give you a number at that time. They also provide the numbers to dip in the paint so that they can be stamped on the dogs. I am pretty sure the paint that is utilized is a non lead based paint. Mine washed off in a couple of day on it's own

In all AKC/CKC Large Pack and most SPO trials numbers are painted high on the sides of each hound for identification by the judges. Judges judge numbers, not hounds' names. In a pack of 40, 50 or more hounds it's the only way a judge can keep track of score. There is no rule that designates a color but yellow is used 99.9% of the time as it shows up well on most hounds. On some lemon & white hounds black is used as yellow does not show up against the yellow on these hounds. The trick is to have paint that will stay on the hounds for the duration of the trial, but yet can be removed fairly easily after the class is through. We use an oil based paint that stays on well in wet weather but can be removed with baby oil and some elbow grease. If the paint is not removed soon after the trial, it may remain for weeks which can burn the skin and remove the hair itself, not to mention making it all but impossible to repaint the dog the following week. We buy "Beagle Yellow" paint from a firm in Michigan. A set of 3" numbers can be purchased from many dog supply houses in both wide and narrow styles. The narrow seems to be generally preferred. These are provided by the host club at all such trials and one person is designated as painter at these events. Numbers are designated by the Field Trial Secretary at time of entry.
