First off, not trying to start an all out battle of words or emotions on this sight.

I have read some of the posts and I do not want a bashing or to start one. Okay that is done now.

Looking for information regarding trials in Michigan. I live in West Michigan and my son would like to try trial competion. We have a young AKC dog that we would like to use. Does anyone have any information or advice? Want to try and stay close, not out of state etc...Would like to take him and watch one or two before we decide. You can pm me, or post information.

Hi there. I dont know how much help I can be but since you havnt had any answers I will try. First off with an AKC dog you can run in AKC, UKC or ARHA events. Next you need to determine where your dog fits in, there are all kinds of field trials. Evart has a club but that may be too far north of you. Hastings use to have a club and Homer either has a club or will be getting a club. UKC home office is in Kalamazoo. There are other clubs in the Thumb Area near Millington. These are all UKC and ARHA clubs. I have no idea about where the AKC clubs are in Michigan. SOrry I cant be of more help but maybe someone will see this. How far South are you in Michigan? If you could describe a little about your dog as far as breeding and how it runs such as foot speed, how it works a check and runs the line maybe someone can help you a little more. Its always nice when you can finally meet someone in your area who will help you along.
Best to you and your son,
Randy

I run alot of large pack on hare and some small pack option around your area. I live in the most western part of the state. Ironwood Mi. There is a AKC club not too far from you in Fife Lake. There is acually two clubs located in the same location. Cheeryland Beagle Club and Stittsville Beagle Club. These two clubs are Large Pack on Hare. I also know there is a trial every year down in Alma Mi that is ran in the SPO format on cottontail. To get info on the two clubs near Fife Lake I'd contact Gene Beyers, he is located in Houghton Lake area. If you would like his number feel free to contact me by email and I can give you his number.. It sounds too me that you have a really nice bred dog there for these type of trials. you can also give me a call anytime for any other info.. (906) 932-9050 Dave

I say go to them all, AKC, UKC and ARHA. Find which one you like the best and find which is more fun for you. Form your own opinions of which one you like rather than reading about the good and bad on the net. Once you get to any event you will have a good time, esspecially at your first one. That is the one you will never forget.

Danny, I will take somemore pics tomarrow with my new camera and hopefully get them to ya. Well I don't really have any plans but I had in mind what I was looking for and all I did was build a 10 x 10 building and built 6- runs off of that. each run is 4 x 4 ft 2 runs on 3 sides of the building. I'm still not completed with it. I still need to finish lining some of the dog houses. The lining I use is what I think alot of people call HOG board. I got a 100 ft roll that is 4ft wide by 1/8" thick. works real well for the outside too so the dogs don't damage the out side of the building. I will send those pics. Dave
