congrats to all the winners and people who placed, for the most part,i had a good time, met some good guys, and got to judge a couple casts of good runnin, all my dogs cast came to hunt and handlin, but the two i judged had hardcore poundin.

all i have to say aboput the matter of the grands finals,i hope i proved to the overwhealming group that consisted of the state rep, master of hounds, and 10 to 15 others that went out to watch me judge cause one person felt that i would possibly cheat them,or as it was put to me,these people went to make sure there was no problems,i hope josh and i proved we are fair, all i have to say is this,i judge the hounds, weather i owned one at one time,or weather or not i get along with the owners,i judge the hounds, and the hounds have never done anything to me.

i hope if i return to ekbc, and decide to judge that i dont have to feel like i am under a microscope,i did not have to stick around and help,i have never, ever seen a judge be treated the way i was today, and people wonder why we have a hard time getting judges,i was being labeled a cheater before the cast left the clubhouse, and when it was all said and done,no one had a problem, just like every cast i have judged.the best dog that day came back the winner.

this is the first time i have ever seen a handler voice his opiniuon of a judge before a cast, and then the club send a large group of reps out to police the cast,it was uncalled for,and i hope nothing like this ever happens again for the sake of this sport.i was always told that if a problem occurs,to bring it back to the moh at the clubhouse.how did that look to the 16 year old boy who busted his butt to help the club, the first cast he judges, the club sends out people to make sure we dont cheat.it was uncalled for, period.

i judge what i see,and that is it,and i feel that today,i brought back the best dog for that day,and i hope everone agrees.

and that is all i have to say about that

thank you,danny vansickle

Danny the only reason that we sent the master of hounds on that cast was to make sure that no one used any abussive language toward you and that you did not do the same.At no time did I hear any one say that you might cheat for or against any one.I want to Thank you for helping judge and if you and Josh comes back to EKBC you will be more than welcome to sign up to judge. We just try to be fair with everyone and was trying to keep down trouble. You are welcome to come back any time.
Thank You

danny my bunch went out on this cast just to watch the grands and didnt know anything about what went on before but after hearing how you used language in your cast i have to say the club did the right thing if they did sendpeople out to make sure everything went ok this is a good club and they dont put up with a lot of crap so in my opinion if you want treated better, act better

first of all,i did not use abbusive language or cuss, let me tell ya what happened there,i tried to explauin it to the rep that talked to me about it but he didnt wanna hear my side cause of who the judge was

i was on a cast, one minute left in the cast,a dog hits way down in the holler,it was between two dogs that it could have been, the judge never asked for the handlers to call it,and he was standin by us and could not see wich dog and could only rule out the two that where there, one handler even agreed it was mine, wich he has also ran with my dog,but maybe it was the other, bottom line the judge is suppose to say call it,well that did not happen, the handler of the other dog was standin right beside the judge and he looked at him and said that is my dog,all by himself, maybe it was, maybe it wanst, but the rules are the rules, the judge should have gave everyone a chance to call it,instead he awarded the other dog a jump strike, without even listening to weather or not anyone felt any doifferent,i said that i thought it was my dog, then the other handler blew up and said there was no way,and the judge said he knew the moths, although we had no running,up till that point,he knew the mouths

the judge asked me if i wanted to dispute the call,i said yes i do,the the judge pulled the scorecard out,ant said,ok.i will fix this,i wont score any dog the points, now it has to go on hunt and handling, and picked the other dog

yeah,i lost it then, and i feal i should not have blew up,but i believe changin the score after the cast is over is a rule violation,am i right??????

that is how it happened, was it my dog that struck in,maybe, maybe not,but the judge should give everyone in the cast a chance to claim it unless he can rule out all the dogs, and yes a SPECTATOR said he saw my dog back by him when the dog opened, but spectators and handlers are two different things.

i am sure the owner of the other dog will come on and give his two cents, weateher it was or wasnt his dog, that does not matter, the score was changed aftr tha cast was over.

and before you ask why i didnt protest...the judge said if i protested,he woulkd report me for arguing with him,so i signed the card, and took one for the home team

from now on,i will keep my temper down, but when a judge changes his score so i cannot dispute it with the moh,and pickes the other dog,tha tis wrong,he done said he was awarding the jump strike,i felt it was my dog,the other handler felt it was his,,but ht e judge did not give anyone a chance to claim it,and he was totallly out of position to make the call,he said he called it cause he knew the mouths, without a single bark during the cast,he knew the mouths

if i was a bettin man,i bet it the same judge being discussed in the other thread, judges and judging

a rule violation is a rule violation, changing the score after the cst is over and doin it to make the dogs all even at zero to pick a dog on hunt and handling is a rule violation, and in my book,it is also known as cheatin, and when it happened yeah,i lost my cool and said that i thought the judge was being dishonest, and changing the score after stating it,is dishonest.and i dont agree with judging by ear, weather you say you owned the dogs in queastion or ran with them or whatever, all that matters is what happens out there that 60 minutes, and the two dogs in questiojn did not bark the entire cast cause we did not have running,so how was he justifiead to make the calkl by ear?

when the dog opened, there was two dogs there by the judge and two dogs in the woods, the propper thing to do would have been to say does anyone want to claim that dog,but that did not happen, the other handler looked at himand said that is my dog and he said,"i know it is" and grinned.i honestly thought it was my dog,i wanted to dispute it,then the judge changed the score and gave to to the other dog on hunt an handling, this is the way it went, yeah i was wron to argue but the juf=dge was wrong to do what he did.

that is all i have to say about that.

and if anyone wants to watch josh and i judge,i will be sellin tickets to the next hund we attend,50 cents and a cold bottle of water.

Congrats to Reggie, Mo, and James! Also to everyone else who placed, it was a tough field of dogs. Danny, I am sorry that your first experience at the EKBC wasn't any better. I hope this doesn't discourage you from coming back. Chad

i am glad i got to judge the grands, there where three fine hounds in it,but hustler really put on a show,up till then, stretch was the only hound i have seen that could run across rocks and hit every breathe like he was tied to it,but hustler also ran on rock and dirt just like he could in an open field, they ran on a ol mine area on top of a mountain covered with crushed rock and dirt, those dogs really impressed me runnin like they did on that stuff, and as for hustlers foot speed,i thought moe had just bumped that big head of his when he kept braggin hustlers footspeed up,shoot, that ol hound can flat get it

i wish i had a movie camera out there,if you could have seen what i saw, josh carter, the boy that judged with me,you talk about a judge now, that boy can get er done,he came runnin around an area below an ol seapage pond,as he ran through the mud,his shoes came right off his feet,he ran around out there for a good five minutes in nothin but his socks till them dogs took the rabbit back past his shoes,he ran over, grabbed his shoes, and threw them on while on the fly to keep from missin anything, now, that thar is what ya call GRIT

Danny I havent been doing this very long and i've not seen to many dogs out there that dont impress there owners so I try not to judge there hounds no other way than what someone tells me because what suit's me might not suit you or the next man but one thing is for shore everyone is there to win just like we are but know on the ol dog he's one of family members know and if nothing happens i'm basing my yard on him and I know they are a lot of dog's out there better than him but he's my ol buddy Thanks a lot for you and josh judging that day and the replies about ol man .
