I dont want any arguement just looking for input
had a dog messure out sunday at a hunt
put him on a stand that was wobbly and was shaking dog messured over 2 separate times he was tense didnt feel safe
put on ground re-messured was under
surface of stand wasnt carpeted either (slick) i didnt really cause a sceen but really wanted to bit my lip and beared it went to master of hounds
he areed that the stand wasnt good needed worked on. And could have made dog really nervous
he (tag) never has messured over in any ukc hunt what would you have did or said Tag is a 14 3/4 dog not over by no means

Dan,
Sounds like the AKC is getting ready to crack down a bit on measuring. And you're right the stand is every bit as important. I know some of my dogs will hunker down and get nervous if put up on a slick surface. I imagine there's alot of dogs that would react the same way. Especially with it being wobbly too.
Myself I would have said something before the dog was measured. Loud enough for people to hear (and add their two cents). Seeing as how the MoH agreed I would hope this club uses a better stand in the future. If they don't have a new one at the next hunt I wouldn't bother entering. A level playing field is a level playing field. And that definitely includes the measuring stand.

If the AKC wants to crack down and give everybody a fair shake the reps will need to include a equipment inspection to insure the stand is up to par before a single dog is measured. If the stand doesn't measure up the hunt should be cancelled before it starts and everybodies entrance fee refunded. Now maybe this wont be a popular opinion but it's a fair opinion.

they used the 2 on the stand
it was a plywood plateform with 1x3 as legs barely wide enough for the mesurring stand
next time you see adam or denny ask them about it

I was there Witnessed it with my own eyes on the table he first placed the dog one leg was shorter than the other and the table tetered back and forth my other concern to that burns my butt more than anything is in the rule book it states that the dog should be measured at a NATURAL STANCE this means you should walk the dog toward the measuring stick stop him and then thats a natural stance you should measure the dog right there where they stand i know i have benched a little bit in the past (not much) but when i was on the bench i puffed my dog up and made him stand all straight and tall i dont think the breed inspectors should handle these dogs as much as they do (UNLESS) the dog will absolutely not stand for anything in the world then you should help the dog stand it is not fair to a dog to make them stand on a unsafe table to get measured now i wouldnt have said a word if he would have placed the dog on the floor to begin with and he had measured over but when you place the dog on the table and then place him on the floor and get two diffrent measurements a quarter of an inch off im not buying it.

I was at the hunt on Sun.
I seen you walk in with the dog to get him measured and I said to myself that dog is OVER 15 maybe 15 1/2. So I wasnt suprised he measured out.
I didnt check the stand out real close that they had you stand him up on but it looked ok to me.
Just stating what i seen, Larry & Chris put on a fine hunt. The breed inspector that measured you out is from Michigan so i dont see why you wouldnt go back to that club because they had nothing to do with it.

but didnt do a thing with it thats ok i am putting a protest in with a.r.h.a like i was told to to by some other at the hunt they agreed it was a bad call
and i am not talking about adam or denny others said to do it as well so i will just stay a way for a bit if larry want to call we still can discuss it he has my number

I wasn't watching when he measured him on the ground.
Didn't concern me then and doesn't concern me now.
I was just saying I thought he was over 15" by looking at him.
And that Chris & Larry had nothing to do with you getting measured out.
