As I posted on field trialing about getting a trial back to the big one. (I hope the Don L and company can get us the AKC Superbowl back in order. They have been picking great judges in the past and this trial, to really bring in the entries. If the rabbit population can stay average, and the gas prices stay down , the people should come. The Mid-West should support this trial and come and run there best. AKC mid-west people should look forward to win a big event like this. It should be like the world hunt in arha(nkc) and ukc. I wish we could get some big sponsors to give away shock collars, dog food and a BIG trophy and ribbons to the winners. I hope it gets big enough to make it a honor to win a trial so big.) Just seeing if people would step up for the next year and make it something BIG. I know any mid-west trial or AKC trial is big. I mean Large Pack has the Nationals, Why shouldn't we put on something that size. Mid West does have the run off, but it does not count for any kind of points. People also haven't really made it a priority to make it huge. It is great to have and I love running in it, its just not the BIG ONE! Have a field champion class, non field champion, and derby. You have to have a 4th or better to get in. Showcase our field champions from large pack, and spo. Make it a big deal! I would just like to see it.

Actually I think that akc has accepted the offer to sanction the run-off so points will count. I'm not sure if that is for 2010, or 2011 though.

To me it would be an honor to win if there is 10 ,15, or 25 dogs entered. I think the best dogs and bitches hit as many trials as they can. So if I could win a class of 20 I feel I have beaten the best. Remember a win is a win and they are hard to get and I give congrats to anyone that has gotten a win regardless the entries.
( I'll take 3 wins over 1 superbowl anytime)

I understand about three wins and good dogs at each trial. I usually go every weekend or fridays. Its really not the point I am trying to make. Winning the big one at the start of the trial season to set a good course. Or the next one to see how your dog did. You might have a two year old place 13th out of 60 big bitches. See if she does as good or better next year. You can get technical and say senting might change, that,or judges, but that is missing the big picture. It would be to compete with the best from large pack small pack, surely nkc people that dogs are akc registered would show, people from ukc ect. One trial, ,on one day, to be crowned the akc superbowl winner. Has a ring to it!

yes. The mid west gundogs ass. promotes what a true hunting hound is. The dogs we run have brains, line controll, and are handled in the field like we are rabbit hunting. Hounds are judged on the ability to run the rabbit check free. We all know that can't happen the whole day. They are judged on speed, checks, and hunt for the most part. We get to the rough part. Demerits. The judges have to determin who is over running, who is swinging,cutting,skirting.ecx. The more major demerits is back tracking, fighting, off game ect. Some demerits are lesser than others and the dog can score enough to stay in. Some lead to being picked up. The mid west have great judges for the most part. The best hound at the end of the day usually places or wins. If you don't do as well as you would have liked, show up the next week. Every dog has its day. If you get picked up before the winners pack and don't stay around, you probably left to soon. Mid West winners usually rock and roll. jeremy

line controll first, speed with brains, checks and turns. all good score. If your hound can run to catch then yes, but with controll. There is scenting advantages to each hound. A dog can look unbeatable one series and scenting change annd go from winning to losing.
