Big Pack in NC
If you are interested in running ARHA Big Pack in North Carolina please pm me or call Johnny at 252 531 0469. We are in the formative stages of starting this format in NC. If you are unfamiliar with this format, the dogs run rabbits and are scored using the foxhound HGA format. Which is scoring the dogs in speed & drive, hunting, trailing, and endurance. Please contact me with any questions you have. Future messages will follow with meeting times ect... Thanks, Johnny Williams

I will try anything once or twice. You can count me in. I ran AKC SPO at Quail Farms twice. Found out it was kind of like watching paint dry. Walking a rabbit to death or hoping he died of old age. I here there is some good deer races in Big Pack mine can run a deer with the best of them. LOL

Re: Big Pack in NC
Just some update news on the progress of Big Pack nationally and at home here in North Carolina. Dad and I are in the process of securing running grounds for Big Pack events to be held, once that is solidified we will schedule a meeting for everyone interested to attend, so we can get started with the paper work, signing up members ect. Just some things I'd like to let everyone know about Big Pack and some reasons to run this format. If you have dogs that are over 15", this is your format, we allow up to 16" dogs to run. We also allow tracking and shock collars to be used on dogs, so keeping up with dogs is not a problem. If you are someone who for any physical reason has trouble with all the handling and running around behind dogs during casts in Little Pack, PKC, UKC, and AKC this format will help you compete with out all the hassle. Dogs are run for four hours, there are no dead tracks called, the only time the dogs are handled during the hunt is if they go out of bounds, are on off game, or are in danger and the other guys are always willing to help with that. The location that Dad and I are working on starting this first club is in the Washington, NC area, but we would like to see multilpe clubs start up. If you have an existing ARHA Little Pack club with good running grounds, adding Big Pack to your charter would work great for you, to do as fund raiser for the Little Pack part of your club ( LEE)
. I know there are alot of guys that love this kind of hunting all over North Carolina and all over the country, someone with a large enclosure advertise a speed and drive hunt, and see the hunters come out of the woodwork. It is in all of us hunters to have the dog on the front of the Pack driving the rabbit with authority. This format rewards that, but also rewards dogs for showing great hunting skills, and jumping skills as well as endurance. So, let's get it going, let me continue to hear from you so we can have this format to compete in right here in our back yard. Thanks for taking the time to read this and consider helping out.
