Where Am I Going Wrong?

This is directed at all the traders and business people out there. Please do not think me overly naive. I have a Sportdog Houndhunter 3200 double shock collar. It is two months old with a 2 mile range and a lifetime warranty. It is a real nice collar, costing close to $500.

Now, here's the point. I have been trying to sell it for $300 on other sites and this seems quite reasonable to me. I haven't had a single inquiry. What is wrong with this collar? or my approach?

No, I am not trying to sell it here. I am simply curious as to why no one would want a good collar at a good price. I figure the model must have a bad reputation or something.

I have to agree with HDB. It's not a Tri-tronics. Best of luck though. I'm sure it's a good collar.

Why are you selling it? I think most folks are afraid of getting ripped off and will pay the extra to get the security and warranty brand new.

Why haven't you listed it on here? This site is very effective. I have purchased 2 sets of collars, 3 dogs, 3 rabbits, and sold 3 dogs through this site. If I were you I'd try listing it here. Just my .02.

Most people are familiar with innotek, dogtra, and tri-tronics, With tri tronics being the brand of collar preferred by most. For the money most folks will go with a brand name they are familiar with, I personally had never heard of the brand name that you listed for e-collars. Post them here and someone may buy them, especially as it gets closer to rabbit season.

Here's why I wouldn't elect to buy a SportDog product - new or used. I've read several posts about them not having near the advertized range. When I read about the problem, I checked to see where they're manufactured and found "made in China" printed on the back of the package. Suspicions confirmed. I'm no expert, just an interested observer of the results of Chinese quality management, but I personally know of no product coming from China these days which doesn't deserve cautious evaluation before purchase.
Having said that.... on the positive side, some beaglers have had nothing but good things to say about the SD 3200. And I own two el cheapo anti-bark collars I bought at WalMart - made in China - which have worked fine.
My bottom line.... It's nothing you've done wrong... I've become gun-shy of Chinese products and would keep looking for an American-made Tri Tronics.

Everybody wants tri-tronics, they've proven themselves in the field. As for myself, i just don't have $300 bucks to spare, if i did it would be on a new tri-tronics. My running buddy uses the Classic 70 G2 EXP and after seeing him use it i wouldn't own any other brand. Sorry you're having trouble and it does sound reasonable price-wise, have you tried E-Bay?

I think that when people on here see you have something at a fair or cheap price they kinda get alittle gun shy because there are so many people out there that want to HOO-DOO and take advantage of somebody. I too have noticed this....I have tried to sell some dogs on here that were good dogs. I just didn't have time or room for them, so I listed them cheap just to get them out of here. No response...But when somebody over prices a hound they have people swarming all over it because they think just because it costs more means it's better....Go figure.....

Chaffin, I love the word 'hoo-doo'. Any idea how it got related to trading or where it came from? I agree with you. Even if I give an ironclad guarantee, people are cautious and well they probably should me. Me, I'm from the country and am pretty generally trusting. Maybe that is a fault but I sleep well at night.

We've had great sucess with Dogtra. I've had tri tronics as well but I am partial to the dogtra. I've never owned a sport dog but a few guys I know do and the seem to like them, but prefer mine.

In KY HOODOO means to cheat someone or do them wrong
