Board Updates in Progress - Please read last reply

Post by cburchett77 »

I've hijacked this old thread because the board won't let us post new ones. Read my reply at the end of this thread. - Bev

I seen this on another board and it seemed to help a lot of people out finding some one to hunt and run with some. I figured with all of this bad weather, this would be a good time to get it started. You never know you might find another hunting buddy out of it. Just put where you live, what kind of dogs you run, and how often you run.

Name: Clyde

Location: Northwest Georgia

Speed: Upper Medium

How Often: 2 or 3 days a week year around

I'm not sure if Bev is interested or not but this is a pretty cool interactive map that can be loaded up to the site, then members can just type in their address to pin themselves on the map.

Here's an example of what it would look like

I love the map idea. I used to keep one updated for our website when I was working in Kansas and it was simple to do.

Location: SE Missouri
Usually run on weekends
Currently have two 8 mo. medium speed pups that are still learning, but coming into their own.

Great idea! No one runs beagles around here too much anymore. I am in Pa near Bedford (Schellsburg area), 30 miles South of Altoona and Johnstown, 30 miles East of Somerset, and 30 miles North of Cumberland, Md. I run upper med. dogs that are young. They are 6 months old to a year and a half old and need run with other dogs some. I run 5 times per week, weather permitting.

As a side note, I just noticed the hunting stories section Bev added, and I thought that was a great idea as well. I also wanted to send a huge thank you to Bev (and her mods!) for all the hard work keeping this site going, and for keeping it clean so the young beaglers and female beaglers can use it as well. This is without question the BEST beagler's forum on the internet, and I for one appreciate it immensely. Thanks so much, and keep up the good work!

I looked into the map thingy. It's a good idea, but they have some bugs to work out of it before I put it on my site. You have to be very careful of "interactive" things. Other stuff will get access, too. I will, however, put a form on the nabeagle.come site where you can input your info and it will send it to me in a format that I can easily upload to the site to be listed by state.

Start picking out a name for the page. You want Friend Finders? Runnin' Buddies? Pick-A-Pal? (lol)

Yesterday Chris updated the board to the latest version of phpbb. These things rarely go off without some hitch. It seems we can reply to threads that were already here, but can't post new ones -- getting an SQL error. Chris is aware of it and will be tweaking to get it fixed.

Meanwhile, if you have something that needs to be posted right away (or you just wanna gab and chatter, etc.,) feel free to use the backup board. You don't have to be registered for it to use it, but out of courtesy to your fellow beagler, you may want to use your name when you post:

Thank you for your patience!
