"Deer"
All of the sudden over the past three weeks I have had my dogs out about five times and they have pop a deer twice. They have done great up to that point. I have a lot of money invested in these dogs, and I know they cames from good hunting stock but they sight cased that one day when we jumped deer up and that seems to have tore them all to pieces. What can I do to stop this?

You need to get them broke as soon as possible. The more they run them the harder they will be to break. If you have collars(shock)
you can try and do it yourself. However it may be a good investment to send them to someone who breaks them off deer using a process that is known as being pressure broke. In my opinion(and I am no expert)that is the best way to break a dog.I have seen plenty of dogs that have been broke by just shocking them while they are trying to run a deer. However I have also seen plenty that would break over(run deer again)or would run deer silent(the dog that does this can be out of the country before you even know he is on a deer)and dogs that would not start a deer but would sure go when another one did.I have seen far less of this with dogs that are pressure broke.Pressure breaking just means that someone has a dog that will run a deer and besides just shocking your dog on a deer they get your dog broke to the point that he is not willing to go with that dog when he goes.I have seen dogs break over when this process is used but far less often. What I have posted is purely my opinion and as I have stated I am no expert. You might get others opinions before spending the bucks. It is usually about a hundred bucks(but I am sure this varies) to have a dog broke this way.It may sound like a bunch but is little compared to the trouble that a deerrunner can cause you.Good luck with your hounds.

I sure dont but there a a bunch of beaglers up your way and I would bet that someone on this board knows someone up that way.so hopefully someone else will chime in and help.I think Chip Eisenhut does some deerbreaking but I dont know anything about how he does it.I think he is in West Virginia.Johnny Mike Caines in Eastern Ky(close to pikeville I think) pressure breaks dogs and had pretty good success at it and I am sure there are plenty of others that I am not aware of that do it as well. If you decide to make the trip down to Johnny Mikes, Lynn Perkins is on this board and can get you in contact with Johnny Mike.
