Inexpensive wormer?

I alternate between the Safeguard goat wormer and the Valbazen and have no worm problems and also use ivemectin in the summer months.

One of my best friends is a vet with many years experience and he has told me a number of times that drontal or the generic form of it will kill all worms with the exception of heart worm and the thing that most guys dont understand is that it takes 2 to 3 months for worms to grow to an adult state so in 99 percent of all cases you only need to worm 3 to 4 times a year with a product like drontal. He guarantees me that I will never have a worm problem utilizing that method. He also explained to me something that I dont believe most of us hunters didnt know is that very few types of worms found in herbivores such as rabbits will live in an omnivore host such as a beagle. that means that feeding rabbit parts to your well deserving hounds does not really put them in danger of contracting worms. they can however get them if they come in contact with other omnivore crap infected with worms like coons, possums and the like, or other dogs etc. I have spoken to him about worming numerous times and he has reinforced to me these things each time. JMO but this guy has forgotten more about keeping dogs healthy than I will ever know. Good luck

i think that all those that are using safeguard are leading you in the right direction. i've used it for years and everytime i change the hounds just don't look the same. all though safeguard won't do anything for heart worms and only gets some tapeworms. so for the heartworms and the taps safeguard won't kill i have all ways used equimax which has praziquantel and ivermectin. i use a 1/2 cc for a 25lb hound. this is horse wormer and i really like the results.
safeguard everyother month and the month that your not giving them safeguard i use the equimax. during the summer months i use equimax every month. works for me.
