I like the idea for your new format. Search and jump and hunt desire are really important to me for rabbit hunting. Have had rabbit dogs over 35 yrs but just started into hunt competitions (UKC Hunting Beagles) about 5 years ago. Something else that you might consider for your new format is a total dog concept that would create incentive to breed dogs that are correct in both hunt traits and physical structure. That is a UKC philosophy that attracted me to their program. Before the hunt competitions I was involved in Showing AKC show dogs. It is amazing to see how much promoting this total dog philosophy is improving the beagle breed. We are seeing more and more dogs with both. I would be interested in an AKC program that promotes search and jump, clean line control, speed appropriate to scenting conditions combined with excellent physical structure.

My question was not meant to be negative in any way, nor was I trying to prove a point. I try not to say anything negative on these posts. I'm not that kind of person. If I have anything negative to say it should and will be face to face with that person not on some computer board for the whole world to read. (All these negative comments do is make the entire beagling community look bad) The reason why I ask is simply this. What is you logic for starting a new association. Is it to promote a fast but cleaner, harder hunting hound (if so I'm all for it). Is it because you and your club members have had a bad experience in other associations or at certain clubs (if so don't let couple bad experiences keep you from running other associations)? Or is it just because of lack of success in the other three formats (if so I'll be glad to sell you some Blazing Trails Blood, but can't promise you success. I've been trialing for 14-15 years and only finished 3 hounds) Many of the things you stated you wanted to promote in a hound, AKC already has rules for. Like Jamie and other people have stated it is up to the judges to inforce those rules. I know you run UKC at your club. If you start a new association is it going to be ran similiar to UKC standards or more like SPO but cleaner? Back to why I asked how many hounds showed up. What is the demand for the style hound your wanting to promote, in these parts? What I mean what is an average turnout for UKC vs. AKC SPO vs. ARHA in this part of KY. Normally AKC has 80-120 hounds per trial. Do expect that kind of turnout for the trial your trying to promote?
Once again I'm not trying to bash any format/handler/or hound. I think each format has good and bad things about them. The best format would be to take the good from all three and combine the three formats. By reading the past comments on these boards I can assure you that will never happen.

well now earl are you stating that you know more about dogs than i do because it sounds too me like that .with that fine offer on the chance for me to purchase some those blazing trails or happy trails dogs that you have it sounds like you are saying i just don't know anything at all about dogs or trials - judging or anything in general at all. because that i have not had the succsess that you had. man 3 dogs WOW!!!!!!!!!! that is great and 14 to 15 years or experience in trials man i never would have thought that you was in your mid to late fiftys you sure hold your age good you even look younger than me, whats the secret to that? looks like next year you'll be up for the hall of fame vote.

Once again my comments were taken the wrong way. I offered to sell you a hound out of HUMOR!!!!!! If you noticed I stated that I had ONLY finished 3 hounds in 14-15 years. I stated only to show you I wouldn't bragging on my hounds and to show everyone how hard it is for most people to finish a hound in the Mid-West. However, I would like to say that I'm proud of the three hounds I finished because they all came out of my bloodlines. I bred, raised and trained all three. I also feel like they accomplished their title the correct way. My wins came under different judges, none of my hounds got all their wins under the same judges, I'm not sure but I don't think I have ever won at my own trial, and at no time did I feel the need to call the judges 2-3 days before the trial and ask for a good look, unlike some people I know of. I mentioned all these excuses becuase these are normally the ones you hear when someone is lucky enough to finish a hound!!!!!!!!!!
Dave you still didn't answer my question about how many hounds do you expect to participate in this new format. Once again a clean, hard hunting hound sounds like the way to go for any format. However, will their be enough supports in this area??????????

KY Hound-I spoke with Jamie last night and I could not remember about the last qualifier. The new treasurer does not have the records from previous years payments. Jamie is reviewing his records to check on the payments. If Dave can just photcopy the checks and send it to Jamie or myself if will be taken care of. If not, no big deal.
