COYOTES

THE PROBLEM IS WITH US NOT THEM. HOW MANY OF YOU GO OUT AND HUNT COYOTES ? MY UNCLE AND I HUNT COYOTES ONE DAY PER WEEK AND SOMETIMES TWO IN THE AREAS WHERE WE RUN OUR DOGS AND WE HARDLY EVERY SEE ONE WHEN WE ARE RUNNING THE DOGS. THEY ARE VERY EASY AND CHEAP TO HUNT AND IT IS ALSO FUN TO HUNT THEM. IF YOU KNOW ANYONE WHO HUNTS RACCOONS HAVE THEM SAVE THE MEAT AFTER THEY SKIN IT AND USE IT FOR BAIT OR USE TABLE SCRAPS BECAUSE THEY EAT JUST ABOUT ANYTHING. NOW IS THE EASIEST TIME TO HUNT THEM BECAUSE OF THE SNOW ON THE GROUND AND THE FACT THEY ARE LOOKING FOR AN EASY MEAL. WE DON'T HUNT RABBITS BUT ONLY RUN ARE DOGS FOR FUN BUT WE ALWAYS SHOOT A .22 PISTOL ONCE OR TWICE IN THE AREA BEFORE TURNING THE DOGS LOOSE. I KNOW HOW MUCH MY DOGS MEAN TO ME AND WOULD HATE TO LOOSE ONE AND FEEL BAD FOR ANYONE WHO DOES LOOSE ONE, BUT IF WE DON'T HUNT THEM AND KILL THEM OFF THEY ARE GOING TO OVER RUN US.

Shooting the .22 isn't a bad idea, but coyotes don't always pay attention to gunshots. My coyote hunting partner told me that a few years back he was hunting coyotes and shot one when just a few minutes later another one showed up. This is not uncommone for coyotes.

Good deal on hunting them at least once a week.

I just got a phone call a little while ago from a beagler who wants me to come thin down the coyotes in his hunting area. I'll be more than glad to do so, but it will only be a temporary measure. In a few weeks or less another coyote or more will just fill the place of the one taken. I guess that will mean a target rich environment for me.

Walked out the back door this mourning about 10:30 and saw 2 coyotes. One will not eat any more of my rabbits or bother my wife's beagle pup.
