...on the ancestry of your new hound? This is your forum. Post your question and others will fill in the blanks for you. This is also a good forum for asking about particular hounds and bloodlines (past or present) when considering a breeding or purchase, or just breeding questions in general.

I just went through the whole process. You need to call the AKC and request the proper form. It is a $50.00 fee. When you send it back in they will want 2 pictures. 1 side angle and on front picture. If the dogs(The parents) are not registered with the AKC you must contact the CKC and get one and mail them a copy($42.00). When all this is done if you wish to breed them you must have a DNA test done. Another $40.00. Hope this helps you some. I am still waiting on the DNA sample to come back. Later,
Danny

They have added more in the last 2 1/2 years when I did it. I did not have to give pictures or a DNA test at that time. They always have to find new ways to boost thier profits. I wonder if you can Byt stock in AKC they have almost no over head other than paper shuffling. That is the racket to be in.

You can download the application from AKC Site. The hound has to be transfered into your name from CKC, if the Sire and Dam has AKC numbers then you do not need pedigree.
After you get the hound transfered to you from CKC it cost you $50.00, no DNA required, now if you are going to stud the hound out after you get him AKC Reg. and going to breed to several females you have to get DNA.
