I dont know how the every one else in michigan is doing ?
but i have been running about 20 times since deer season ended and all but 2 days have been awful
and dose not sound like it going to get any better inthe next week
yester day saw plenty of rabbits but the dogs could not hold track

The last 2 weeks have been pretty good for me, but prior to that it was pretty hit or miss.

Rick,

I ran a pup and a derby tuesday afternoon around home. They ran pretty steady but not fast.
I ran the same pup and a different derby around home wednesday afternoon. They really struggled.
I ran at the club thursday evening with two derbies. It was pretty steady but not outstanding.
My dad called me tuesday night from northern lower peninsula. He dropped Sasha and Candy (4 & 5 year old females) at 10:30 am & picked them up at 4:00 pm. He said they ran real well for all but about 20 minutes. So I guess tuesday was the best day this week.

hay richard i have a young dog for sale that is a grandpup to jasper he can pound a rabbit in these conditions he's not cheep but would cut you a fair deal not trying to say your dogs are bad but this dog would be a good addition to anyones kennel

The running has been terrible for me also.same thing can not hold on to the track.they can jump them alright, just can`t seem to keep them moving.Very frustrating.I guess I am not the only one having trouble.

Worst year in a long time to much snow rabbits have no cover to sit out all grass cattails and small brush is flat. If you do jump one it is a small circle and straight to hole or junk pile.

everybody is starting to find out how valuable a good snow dog is, these high flyer's just are not getting it done. your not gonna go to fast in these conditions, you got to be able to gear down.

Great point Ron, needs to be said too...

I have had some OUTSTANDING times out, and a few miserable hunts, but most of them have been great...but then again I have two superb snowhounds outside in the kennel worth their weight in gold (almost, LOL) when the weather gets rough. They arent the fastest hounds but they are far above average when the snow flies. My buddy Joe has an older bitch that is double Striker bred that will produce in the snow like she is psychic or something. She is 9 years old and I wouldnt think of going hunting with him without HER...LOL!

The only problem for me has been jumping the rabbits,on those days there is no fresh tracks at all, seems they have been holed up. Once they're jumped the running has been good ! Like Ron said, not the front runners but just doing it from behind all day long :D

Not so great a running here in Pa eather. We had my 3 beagles and 2 friends dogs out thursday and it was ok in the morning but later in the after noon it started to rain and freeze managed to get 1 more rabbit up and my 3 dogs worked it around to my 20 gauge but they had a hard time doing it lost it alot on the freezing ice. My friends dogs never open up on the rabbit he said he never ran them on ice or in these condistions before.
