I ran dogs from 7 to 8:45 tonight i just got in. I ran Thunder Lightning and my older daisy dog. I had the collar on thunder and one on daisy. I looked at daisy and the collar was gone. I was pretty upset about it. So i started looking and looking. I said i'll never find the thing. The weeds are knee high already and it was getting dark. Earlier we had a run that lasted 10minutes they ran it to the fence and shut down. I said its worth a shot I get to the fence and walk it. I got lucky and found the collar at a hole in the fence. I saw where daisy had been digging at the hole. I about did a back flip cause i found it. That was a close call. First time I ever lost a e-collar.
We had some very good runs tonight. Rained earlier in the day and it was very cool out. Maybe mid 60's.
Thunder jumped two of the rabbits that ran for the longest time. He is really coming along for a 7 month old pup. When I watch him search he has his nose down and bust the brush down searching with his tail wagging good. And then he'll lift his head stop point his head up and I can see his nostrils working hard then he goes back to searching. Its as if he is trying to wind one.We still got a long ways to go but I see good things in him so far. He isn't loose with his mouth. Opens when he is good and ready. He isn't wild in a check he works it from the inside out. He's got a good nose so far and can jump his own rabbits. Hope he continues down this path and he'll make me a dandy gun-dog. My Rolling Trails pup Thunder will turn 7 months old 5-16-2010 I run him a average of 4 days a week for 1.5hr at a time
I'm just happy I found my collar

Glad you got your collar back. The only thing worse than that is losing a dog! We need to get together sometime soon and go run dogs (before it really gets hot down here!) Give me a shout if you are interested.

I lost one and never did find it! On a hound I spent way too much money on none the less. I always make sure they are too tight and not to loose.
Learned that the hard way. Just when you think it is "tight enough" you probably need one more notch in. JMO.
Good to hear that Thunder is doing good. I just bred his momma to Rip. Hopefully they turn out as well as all the other litters out of her. She's a producing bitch, that's for sure.
Dry Creek Kennel-Bred to get it done where it counts the most "under the gun".

sounds like your putting the time in thunder 4 days a week nothing helps a pup more than getting them out of the kennel got pretty lucky on the collar most of the time they are harder to find! good luck with thunder sound like he's doing good

Jeremy what does Jade sound like on a rabbit. Thunder has a squawl mouth. that is what i call it. I have no idea what trails sounds like on a rabbit. when he barks it sounds like he is being attacked by a yote or something...lol
Also how can I found out how many FC's she has produced. Is there a way to find out thru AKC website if I punch in her akc numbers.
If thunder continues down this path he should turn out a nice gun-dog. Will he make a AKC FC i couldn't tell you that. Only akc Midwest trials around here that i know of is the one in illinois and its once a year which I plan on taking him.

Donald, Since I've got the time on my hands I figured the more ground time the better. So I keep running him as much as I can. By gun-season he'll be a year old and ready to roll. I can't wait to kill a rabbit for him that should turn things up a notch.

Joey, FTCH McBride's Lucky Jade whelped her first couple of litters in Canada, so most never saw an AKC trial. I think her first litter was with NLPC FC Hardenburgh's Baby Blue which produced 3-4 hounds that placed in CKC LPH and I believe one male who was lightly trialed has his wins but lacked points. Her litter with IFC Cowbay Striker produced six. All four that are still living have placed in trials. The only two that have finished out of Jade are from this litter, Canadian NLPC FTCH McBride's Sassy Sugar & FC McBride's Starlight. I would expect the first AKC litter out of her and NLPC IFC Riley's Rolling Trails will show up on the trial scene next year.

thanks for the info CAP i'll keep my ears open and my eyes on the board to see how they do. I believe their are two AKC litters out of Jade and trails I got one from the second litter.

That is correct. I believe the older litter out of Trails is only around 2 - 2 1/2 yrs old. With her and Trails producing record I would expect that these litters will place pups as well.
