Help please

Got home this afternoon and found my 8 year old female dead. Kennel floor covered in blood and looks like she hemoraged from her anus. My son fed last night and said she ate a little but three it back up. He thought she got choked but apparently not. I am waiting on vet to call me back but just wanted to see if anyone has any ideas.

what brand of dog food are you feeding?

we had the exact same problem 3 weeks ago

we had 3 hounds came down with that illness over the course of one week

its a extremely fast hitting intestenal bacteria problem

our worse case was fine at 1pm in the after noon; by 5 o clock feed time he was a WRECK ..........squirting blood out his butt like a fire hose; and the most violent puking cramps you could imagine

took to the vet during emergency hours / gave them him metronidazole antibiotic and another med for stomach upset generated by the metronidazole

the worst dog looked much better by morning (he looked near death at 7pm at the vets) by day two he was back on his feet

it helped alot that I was able to absolutely rule out poison or contaminated water; vet said these symptoms are common when a dog eats carron (rotten meat like a deer carcass) but in my case it was a NO WAY did that happen they hadnt left the kennels in a week

the lady vet hit the nail right on the head; intestenal bacteria; all three of my hounds cleared up with 3 days of the antibiotic

BTW: its not contagious unless eaten; its weird though how all my dogs eat the same food yet 3 did get sick ?

Thanks. I just talked to my vet and he felt with her age and the suddeness of her bleeding out she had a tomur that ruptured or possibly an anurisim. He said with Enteritis that it usally is not fatal and starts with diareia. He told me to be on safe side to hit all of my others with Safegaurd and keep an eye on them. He said could possibly be a heavy load of whipworm. I have only had her maybe a month so i dont know her whole medical history. Thank you for the information.

there was no direaha warning; you will know if others get it

Sorry for your loss, Anytime I bring a new dog in it's 3 days straight of worming at least in my mind it's done. I have never trusted another mans opinion, i want to do it my way. At least I know it's done right. Again sorry bout your dog.

For sure. I wormed her and give her a 7 way when i got her to be sure. That why my vet felt it was a tomur that ruptured. Scared the hell out of me cause it was a ton of blood.
