Patch, perhaps you are on a little different wavelength than some of us when it comes to interpreting intent, but Leah's post didn't get me to thinkin'. I was thinkin' it the minute I read it. I'm sure many others did, too, they just didn't have the stones to come forward and say what needed to be said for the members who aren't "in the choir" yet.
when should a female be breed to have weaned pups close to christmas
thanks
This is what we all had to go on. How you got your interpretation of "how late can I wait" from that is beyond me.

And since you took the liberty of calling Leah a "holier than thou do-gooder", I will not object if she wants to call you a "hackled-up know-it-all with a bad case of red-ass." ;)

alrighty then!! I'll stick my holier than thou butt out on the line here and say this! IF!! you do not even know the gestation period of a canine. ie: how long it takes to whelp puppies after breeding then should you really be breeding anything? HELL! at least know what your doing first! All this willy nilly breeding and whelping with NO idea about how puppies are born or how long it takes etc gets ME wound up!! obviously anyone on this board has a computer. Use the google search engine and put it to good use! read, read, read!!!!

donning flame suit on my holier than thou ASS!

Leah....I demand that you stop making sense right now. It will only upset the PH level of the board. (lol)

The only time Christmas pups should be an issue is for those people breeding beagles for PETS. I would imagine most on this board do not breed their hounds in order to sell pets, instead they are breeding for hunting hounds to sell to hunting homes. With this being said, who cares when they want to breed them.

In all fairness, the original poster never got flamed. A poster very tactifully answered his question and then based on the assumption WE ALL had, asked him to reconsider, given her past experience. Nobody flamed him. Patch started the Flame Game because he obviously has a major bug up his butt with one of the posters, and he simply got what he dished out. If you flame somebody and in turn get flamed, then all I can say is if you don't want to get bitten, don't stick your hand in the shark tank.

Now, if you realllly truely think that's all we do on this board, and that the purpose of the board is to flame each other, then perhaps you aren't reading the majority of the threads?

In all fairness there were people jumping to inaccurate conclusions on most of the posts in this thread. I posted on this thread and so was commenting on this thread, you would be jumping to an inaccurate conclusion to assume I was commenting on anything other than this thread. Once again :angryfire:

Bev,
What makes you think I was refering to windkist, there were maybe three others that made like comments about the issue(you girls would make a good tag team tho... )
To remain reasonable about this tho, there used to never be all this irresponsible breeder stuff come out unless someone was posting " 6 LITTERS OF PUPS FOR SALE".
I've never seen goatman post a litter of pups for sale before, so gave him the benefit of doubt this was a first time at breeding. He never said anything about selling any and maybe I'm on a different wave length but, He may just be a nice guy wanting to make some kids happy at Christmas... ... I happened to be right...

windkist, I know it doesn't matter but my respect for you is at a all time low.
Have a good life and may you make lots of money on your show puppies, I know your time is very valuable... ...Oh, and if everyone googled, there would be alot less to talk about on here, beagles and beagling has been written about for a very long time.

FLAME-OUT... :approve:
ps...one of the young men at the after school youth meeting was saved tonight so you can't make me mad... :D ...so common girls, let me have it... :P

Where do you come off with this? Is it unreasonable to expect that every person who is planning a breeding do their homework? I don't think so. This isn't rocket science but, it should be taken seriously enough to think it through and to educate yourself on canine reproduction. I answer a lot of questions on here for those that really want to learn and I never EVER mind doing that. I just would expect that a person undertaking something as important as breeding dogs would do some research on their own as well.

Your opinion of me is your business Patch..

BWAHAHAHAHAHA :haha: Bev, where was the spew alert on that one?! LOL!

FWIW: I wasn't trying to come off holier than thou - certainly NOT accusing anyone of being a puppy mill - just perhaps uninformed. Now that the OP cleared up his intentions, I'm so GLAD to hear he wasn't planning on breeding for X-mas $ales!!! But I have to agree with Leah on this one ... it did make me think he may not have been a hunter or knowledgable in the breed if he didn't know how long a bitch was in whelp, therefore did not realize how to calculate when the pups would be due. Patch, lots of us sell for pets as well as rabbit hounds and it's just something that is our responsibility to make sure "our" pups don't end up dumped. As a hunter I think you'd agree the breed is not for everyone.

Well actually, I don't recall ever naming anyone...just that you had a bug up your butt about "one of the posters"...but I see you clarified it for us. Thank you. Got that out of the way I guess, but I have to tell ya Patch...the green eyes don't suit you.
