I have drivin both excact same modles.
Both are very nice trucks but the Tacoma isn't in that gmc's class when it comes to the power and luxury and a bigger price tag. Better comparison would be Denali and tundra.
With that being said. Those 6.2's are some gas hogs, but have a ass load of power and can really move!
Tacoma are pretty good on gas and that v6 is a pretty strong motor! I had know problem pulling a enclosed trailer with 2 Harleys in there!
Also I believe those Denali's are AWD. The awd systems on them are shitty if your in anykinda snow. Awd is nothing like 4x4.

There is no way I would put dogs under the hard top cover!!!!
I would look for a tundra or a 4x4 silverado. By the way Fords are absolute crap!!

those hard covers are a snap to take off , and the resale on them is pretty good also , craigslist it and you wont have it long , if i liked the toyota i wouldnt let the cover discourage me , just get rid of it

After thinking about it. If i had to choose between the 2 and it was my primary truck I would go with the Tacoma for 2 reasons.
1- it's 4x4
2- alot better on gas

I would sell that hard top and put the money towards a nice rim and tire package.

Wife is saying go Toyota (prob the smarter decision cause I won't use 1/4 of the stuff on the GMC) and take off the cover when hauling dogs any distance or sell/trade it and get an actual matching truck cap (what I really want). Anyhow, guess I will go mess with the salesman tomorrow and see what happens. I aint gonna give away the Jeep so we will see....

Thanks for the responses...I was sorta thinking the other way in that they would be out of the weather but after thinking some more and hearing life experiences (some not good at all).....let's just say I'm glad I asked.

I currently own a 2007 Jeep Wrangler 4x4 I have own several GMC 4x4 in the pastGMC 2008 yr model sold last year I own both at the same time in 2009. GMC by far is the better pick over the jeep. However back to the toyota tacoma they also make a bed cover company called Undercover it's light and removes off the bed less than 5 mins you could have best of both worlds just remove bed cover when ready to haul your dogs.

Kelly,

Is your place of employment accepting applications? Nice looking trucks. That jeep you bought looked like you should have been hauling poodles to the dog show, instead of hounds.

Yes we are...although requires climbing up and down 300-400 railcars per day, it ain't for the faint of heart. I don't do it, but I can tell ya what needs done and how long it should take.

I am hauling poodles....they got the attitude of a poodle anyhow

I figure I ain't going to be around this place forever so why not have some fun while I am here, hard to spend money when you can't get your arm to ground level....told my wife that the car lot has all sorts of choices for ADD car owners such as myself....it aint bad, just gotta stay on top. ;)

Toyota are a nice truck but once they hit in the V8 market they found out quick its a tuff game . In there DAY the 22r 4cylinder was indeed the best out there and still see em on the road, of course the bed has rotted out but still going. And stoney to be such a big yoter fan i thought earnhardt drove a chevy?

Thanks for the offer....After spending the afternoon dealing with the salespeople, well lets just say I would rather chew on glass than buy a vehicle right now. Ended up getting into a pissin match with the saleslady and the manager had to come out of his hiding hole. He was a civil fella and made me feel pretty good about myself but he refused to change the numbers much.

Retail on my Jeep is 20k+ and they was tryin to offer me 13k trade (trade value is 15/16, which I could live with) and on top charging me full price of the Toyota cause it was supposedly an "internet special"...BS!!!...told them 5 years ago there would't have been no internet specials...then they tried to tell me they marked the price down last week, told them I don't care...this is this week, mark it down again. They moved the numbers around a little bit but we are still pretty far apart and I could care less about that truck, the place down the road sells trucks too.

I left agreeing to disagree and after coming back to the office and running my numbers I found they was also adding about 2k of "fluff" to the deal as well. Thus the reason they never would show me the "real" numbers....I don't mind paying my fair share and the trade and retail is whatever they set it at and my choice to accept it....the "fluff" number is crap and no way to do business. Everyone in a deal outta keep their hands above the table, that is how I work and expect them to do the same. IF it has to be in there to satisfy the powers, well...tell me what it is and I might pay it anyhow knowing they gotta keep their lights on too...don't hide it from me. :angryfire:

Jimmy,
Never did I say I was a Toyota fan. I just think GM is a joke! I could care less what stickers Hendrick put on their cars....they are basicly all the same.

Boo Boo,
Quit being a tight ass and go out and buy you one of the new Fords and support a company that didn't take a government bailout! As a tax payer you have already supported GM!
