Looking for the story re Clem running on stubs due to sore feet. I believe the story indicated that was before Jim Lane kenneled him.

The way I heard it, Clem's owner and some friends were running when a storm blew in. They did not have time to get the dogs in. They could not get back out for 3 days later, below zero temps and blizard conditions. The first 2 dogs they found were dead. When they found Clem he was still running. His pads were completely gone from freezing on the ice and ripping off, he was running on bone. A lady here in Ohio aquired him but did not run him, kept him kenneled, I forget her nane. Any ways she called Jim Lane to see if he would be interested in using Clem for breading as he bred Yellow Creek decendents. Jim said he went and picked up Clem which had not been run for at least 2 years, his pads looked as good as new, didn't know if he could even ever run again after what had happened in Canada storm, but when he took him out that first day Clem out ran all his dogs. Jim has some tough hounds too. Clem throws some tough pups too. He's not in the Canadian HOF for nothing.
Thanks,
Bob

This is what Bev had to say about Clem from one of his stud ad's.

Clem’s running style would be best described as fast, straight ahead balls to the wall....loud clear bawl mouth....run to the kill on hare, fox or deer....den digger....run all day, and the next day on sore feet....no quit....handles to voice or hand commands. I have a beautiful litter from Clem, some of which will be campaigned on fox & hare in Canada, and the rest on cottontail in the U.S. Happy Run dogs go way back to Yellow Creek breeding and have been fine-tuned over the generations by Mr. Kane for performance, extreme hunt & desire, reproducing power, solid bone for endurance, excellent disposition & kennel manners. His offspring has done well on snow or sod.

now Clem passed in 2012.
but there is still some good Clem blood up close around the mid west.
one of which is a grandson we own. if you go to the NBPPA youth auction on this site he is #68 if any one was interested.
