Has anyone on here created an LLC for their Kennel? I have been thinking of doing this to allow me to write off dog food, trial expenses, kennel supplies, etc on my taxes, and just wondering if anyone is already doing this or looked into it.

I brought this up a few months back and never got any response. I'm thinkning about doing the same thing. I know the LLC only cost $150 if you file yourself in Ohio.
I believe you have to be a registered kennel with AKC, NKC or UKC. There is also a kennel liscens that Franklin County (Ohio) has that could be used to validate the business. If your running any advertisment in the beagler magizine, etc...that should work to. Im pretty sure you have to have a business plan when you file your LLC. hopefully someone can add on to this!!
Outside of being able to to prove that your operating a business the write off's alone would be worth every penny.
1. food
2. meds
3. vets
4. gas, lodging, etc...for trials
5. electric (for kennels)
6. % of all house expenses for operating an office
7. advertising

I did it for 3 years after 3 years of not showing a profit the government considers it a hobby and I had to cease as a business.

All you need in Ohio to get tax free dog food is a Vendor's Permit, which many counties in Ohio make you buy when you get your Kennel License.
You have to file a sales tax return online or by phone semi-annually and pay your counties' sales tax rate for any dogs or pups you sale.
