The other members of my hunting group use 410 TCs. I use a Magnum Research, 45LC and 410 with choked barrel. Works real well and it's a 5 shot, single action. Quite heavy. 4 pounds, 7.5" barrel. Also quite pricie.

Oh yea, as much or more than the TC. You may be thinking of the Tarus JUDGE. This is far nicer and more useful than the JUDGE. Judge has no choke either, hence the short range of it. No, the Magnum Research is quite the piece. Check it our on Magnum Research website. Just google it under Magnum Research. Thanks

I just fun run far more than gun hunt. But on occasion ,when I get an invite to a private piece ,I'll use my T.C. contender super-14.

My brother in-law uses the BFR (big frame revolver), made by Magnum Research, in 45-410. It's BAD TO THE BONE !!! I didn't know of such a gun , until he bought his.If I hadn't already owned my T.C. contender , I would have went after one of those for sure.

you are not going to get a full powder burn out of any pistol barrel, long or short. The powder utilized in shot gun shells does not burn fast enough. Having said that the velocity that you get from a BFR is plenty for the range that these pistols are effective. Twenty to twenty five yards and after that the pattern opens up big time and the velocity drops way off. I shoot a 12" TC Encore and they are deadly as well if you do your part. Rossi's are junk, IMO and you get what you pay for. Nothing but problems and poor craftsmanship. There are a couple companies that can fit a judge with a choke tube and they are much more effective with one installed. Other than that they are spray and pray. The rifling required to make the pistol legal spins the shot out instead of condensing it into a uniform pattern. If you go with a BFR or a TC you wont be dissapointed. Just my opinion, good luck afield.

I'm on my 2nd .410 T/C barrel.
1st was a G2 with a 14" with a rib and bead.
Now I have a 10" with sights.
I prefer the 10". I haven't notice a difference in shooting
just carrying.
Also, for those that get sticker shock from the price of shells,
try reloading.
A guy on specialtypistol.com mentioned about using 9.3x74R brass.
After talking with him and doing some research, that's the way to go.
I can get a full 3/4oz load of #5's. Takes a little time to prep the brass.
After buying everything i needed, I broke even after 18 shells.
Well worth the time and money to me.
Go with the T/C, very versatile.
For HIS service,
R.D.

I have a 14" T/C Contender and the Magnum Research BFR 45/410 and they both have the same range. The choke used is the same exact choke and for me since I bought the Magnum Research the T/C is just my backup loaner 410 now...the BFR is more accurate...it's stainless and won't rust and has the ability for follow up shots not that those are ever needed.

Anyone know a good place to buy a TC Contenter? Or have one for sale?
