I get a copy of the Rabbit hunter Mag every month & I enjoy the reading what are some of the other beagle mags format is Better Beagling mostly trial info. is there any interesting articles & what about Hounds & Hunting can anyone give me a little info. on the format of these mags.

I haven't found many good ones that cover just hunting. Better Beagling has been better about putting a few good articles about actual hunts in there which is better than it's been at times in the past.

Better Beagling only prints AKC trial results; SPO-R & LPH. Also, some UKC & CKC (Canada) results. They often have interviews of well known beaglers, tributes to legendary hounds & plenty of hunting stories beaglers have sent them. They also have yearly awards, upcoming AKC trial ads & schedules & stud ads of top hounds. I really enjoy it.
Hounds & Hunting mainly focuses on a slower type hound than what most of us run.

I like The American Beagler a lot as well as BB.

Yes, American Beagler focuses on true hunting beagles also. I need to renew my subscription on both magazines. May try the Rabbit Hunter too.

This is the way I break it down with the 3 I like best.

Better Beagling is a AKC mag.

The Rabbit Hunter is a NKC mag.

The American Beagler is a UKC mag.

I have to be honest, I havn't found one that I really like. Don't get me wrong, I like looking at the hounds and reading a small portion of the articles but they are just normally hunt recaps. I like listening to hunting tales as much as anyone but I'm looking for a little more than reading about a jumped rabbit that is circled and shot from a monthly magazine.
I'd like to see a mag that does articles about scent conditions, anatomy of a hounds nose, more about the life cycle of a rabbit, reviews on clothes, creating rabbit habitat, etc. I just think they could be so much more than just trial results and hunt recaps.
If i found a magazine that was a little more in depth and covered different/all aspects of being a houndsman, I would definitly subscribe. I have subscribed to all the beagling mags out there and just never really settled in on one.

Hounds & Hunting is a good mag but is mainly AKC med speed hounds. Traditional , old time dogs & article about famous dogs of the past. Alot of ads for stud dogs & pedigrees. I like it better than some others.
Better Beagling is alot about dogs & trials in the eastern half of the U,S.

I get The American Beagler but won't renew it as it IS All fast dogs & not my format. Interresting to me sometimes cuz I know some of the guys.
