i have heard of a few Rattlers in a couple isolated spots around missouri but never seen one.
i am 45 and this is the first one i have ever seen this close to home.

now when it does cool off i will be to chickin to run my dang dogs.

i dont like snakes eather. and a copper head is bad and can be a bad ordeal to deal with and could kill ur dog if not tended to .
but a rattle snake is a whole diffrent story. i dont pay attntion where i am walking, never needed too i jus stomp around where ever i go.
and i dont want to loose a dog.

in the states that have them what do you guys do when the rattlers come out???

We seem to have plenty of them down here. Got 3 in the last 3 years at my place. I think that all you can do is take the chance if you are willing. I have actually come closer to being bitten than my dogs. Here is one from this year.

Well Houndog,
if i am ever out your way this time of year.
maybe i can stop in for a lunch.
they just give me the heebejeebee's....LOL

actually i have been reading about them. and they say they try to avoid us and non pray animals. unless you just keep messing with them.
and that alot of strikes are dry ones. but i seen that on the WWW so it may have been a snake lover scewing things.

Drop in for lunch. We're always cooking something that came out of these mountains.
I think your research is correct, atleast from what I've seen.

there was just a gal in the local news that was swiming and got bit by a copper head
and died on the way to the ER they said. of course they may not know the diffreance between a copper head and
a cotton mouth.
