ran dogs this past weekend for a good 4hrs of solid running. now I notice a young female of mine with her tail tucked down. she whimpers when she has to poop. i looked her over. lifted her tail and tried to move it side to side and she whines.
any clues?

She will be fine in a week . My hound just got over it a week ago . When a dog is out of shape it happens . Just google it

Could be an infected anal gland.

can you guys go into further detail about the anal glands.
I lifted her tail straight up in the air and she didnt make a sound. But when I lifted her tail straight up in the air and then moved it from left to right she started to complain about it. I also watched her poop and she lets out a yelp and ended up pooping on her tail. Is this because she cant lift her tail on her own? its that sore that it hurts to lift the tail to poop? or its an anal gland issue? other than her not wagging her tail at all and its pointing straight down almost tucked she seems just fine. still big ol appetite like usual.

U can squeeze her anus with both thumbs. If it is infected you will milk out the problem. Dont point her butt toward you that stuff smells way worse than dog shizzle.

LMAO
listen to these fellas Joey.
had a few do the same thing over the years..We usually try to express the anal glands at their yearly baths LOL Or whenever they get one...Here is an out for ya Most Dog groomers will do it for ya for a small fee!! I know petsmarts groomers/ bathers will when you take em in to get a bath and nails done!! ya gotta ask them though experience wise those its something that every beagle owner should experience at least Once LMAO
you can google expressing anal glands and get the scoop!! One thing you DO NOT Want to do is Squeeze an Infected gland not only do you take a chance on getting bit if you rupture the gland the vet bill will be more than double what the groomers would charge (been there done that)!!
