My bride of 52 years just came home with a Lexus SUV. I have a Semper Fi tag on the front of my GMC truck.

Being an old, old, Marine, how do I put a USMC sticker or tag on this Jap made auto? Any suggestions welcomed that will make sense.

well, ............ i dont know about putting any sticker or tag on it but Lexus has been a leader in the industry for years along with one of the most reliable vehicles on the market, bar none. I kinda get the feeling ya wont b taking a ride it in any time soon unless of course the GMC is in the garage and the hounds are in the back seat of the Lexus headed for a run.

John, I live in Kentucky and work at the Toyota plant. They're also putting a Lexus line in too. I used to work in a steel mill and wouldn't buy anything but a Chevy. Times have changed and everything is globally made. Parts are from all over the world. At least some of these parts are from USA and these cars are 100% assembled in KY and a lot of the components are made locally. I wouldn't sweat it to bad. It's just the world we live in today.

Times have changed and some of us old folks world is gone.
Have to realize that and move on.

I am glad you made the post John. I am not an old marine but have worked in the union trades for quite a few years now. Truth be told our next family car will probably be a Subaru. Living in Michigan the big 3 just don't make an all wheel drive wagon thatgets 30 mpg. The big 3 don't make an suv that compares to that Lexus either. I guess it doesn't have to feel good to be right is all I have to say. Thanks for posting.

I bought a Honda Crv back in 2010 new . Only part that was made in japan was the transmission . Built right here in USA .

I am with you Alabama John. Unfortunately I have not severed our country as you have but I too try to buy American made goods as much as possible. I actually spend a lot of extra money looking for and buying American made goods. But I kind of startle the fence a little when it comes to automobiles. Do you support the American workers and send the profit over seas or do you support foreign workers and keep the profit in America because allot of the big 3 models are being made and assembly out of the country now days and there is no good source to find the information you need to make a choice

John, I too am a veteran and a retired union employee and I Salute you for your service and applaud you for airing your gut feeling. Never even remotely think that your opinion as an American patriot needs to be taken back. Times are changing and that is the problem with America as the old ways were never about the almighty dollar but rather "we" the people! Buy the way I have NEVER owned anything but a Chevy but my wife loves her Honda CR-V that I can hardly even ride in. Whether actually made and or assembled in America is beside the point in my mind as the old school in me just shy's away from the HONDA name and I totally understand where you are coming from.

Alabama John, first thank you and many others for your service to our country. Next no apology needed for what you said. I understand what you meant. Our country is kinda got us in a catch 22. We want to support our american made vehicles ( ford, Chevy, dodge ), but majority of parts are forgein and if try to work on them you have to have a whole metric toolbox. On other hand a lot of forgein auto plants here in US, that support lot of our famalies with jobs. Granted lot forgein autos are all made in US, but the forgein owners profit on it. Evolution is sometimes hard to comprehend, just like beagles how they have evolved from what use to be to now.

LittleWoody the pulley in that transmission was made in Ohio in the plant I work at. I work for a company that makes crankshafts, tranny pulleys, hubs and a few other items for Honda. We are the exclusive company that does so world wide. However, our company is owned by the Japanese. Not union but our benefits rival any union anywhere.

2 weeks paid vacation first year, 15 sick days,11 holidays paid, birthday paid off, 9 days of pto, 10 shutdown days paid during Christmas , 2 bonuses upwards of 550.00 each , 100% paid health, eye, dental and life insurance they even pay for prescription safety glasses. Oh also get 100.00 towards one pair of steel boots per year and 401K

I have family and several friends that are employed by, and make very good livings working for Honda of America. This is from a guy who also has several family members that either currently work for or have retired from the Ford engine plant here in Lima. How anyone can justify buying a General Motors or a Chrysler(now Fiat) product after raping the american public is beyond me. If Ford had done the same I would never own another one, that I promise you. Anyway, I struggled with the same ideal for awhile, but the realization of how many quality jobs have been provided in this area by Honda has me looking at things differently. It is not only Honda themselves, but all the small businesses that thrive because of Honda. The transmissions, rims, brake parts, seats, tires, and whatever else are all manufactured in nearby communities. I think that it is important to know that Honda treats their employees very well too. In lean times Honda does not lay it's workers off, they have a profit sharing and education programs, awesome benefits(for now), and comparable hourly rates to any auto manufacturer. I can't imagine the state that this, and the surrounding communities would be in if it weren't for Honda. What is sad is that a Japanese auto manufacturer would appear to care more about the american public than a U.S. manufacturer would. This is coming from someone that does not own anything but a Ford, but my wife would like to buy a Pilot and I have no guilt in saying that's fine. Around here Ford and Honda employ more people than anyone else and I intend to support both as much as possible.

It's got nothing to do with any recalls.

Local town has a Japanese owned company that makes parts for Honda. Went by last night, sign out front says happy July 4th. Thank a vet.
