What is the most proven way to keep coyotes from coming in on your hounds at night? Lights on their collar, bells...?

Thanks; I haven't had any problems, but I know there are coyotes just about everywhere you go. With the days heating up, I need to do more night running. Just looking for tips to keep them away if possible.

I got lights on my collars . i like the ones made by sportdog and use the white ones set on strobe .i dont know if they will prevent an attack but they only
cost $15 . you can see your dog most times and should at least make a yote think twice

Folks, I nite run for over 20 yrs and have had several eat up by yotes. One with a light on the collar, so lights may help but wont stop em. Especially during time yotes have pups is when theyre the worst.
I heard a couple guys carrys bottle rockets and shoot em off when they get ready to unload.
The several I got attacked, we screamed, blowed a whistle, shot the pistol but only thing that helped was a spotlight and when I turned it on the attack stopped.

I use the white also, tracker lights and sportdog. white is the brightest , then green.

I always run in daytime, and with a big pack. Lots of coyotes here, but I have never had the slightest problem. Maybe you should switch to running in early morning and stay close to them? I would have to wonder how hard running at night in the spring or summer is on the rabbit population.

I do run early morning & late evening, but I like to night run also. I like to solo hounds sometimes to see really see how much talent they truly have & make them do all of the work on their own. That's when I figure a coyote attack is most likely. I'm just going to do my best to stay right with the dogs if I'm running at night outside of my pen.

I would allow someone to come in and kill them. If I had more time I would hunt coyotes with my brother in laws.

That's a good idea littlewoody; another guy said to carry a jug of pee with you & spread it around the perimeter of your grounds every so often.

Won't work, I have peed next to a trap and caught a coyote in it the next day!!! I think the coyote was territory marking and got caught!!! I would find someone with coyote hounds and get after them!!!

Bought one of those Sport dog collar lights(blue); very bright. Ran Axle solo from 11 to 2:30 am ; he pounded after this rain. No problems with yotes last night. Is Sport Dog the best brand of lights to use? That was the only kind they had at the store I went to. Pretty high I thought; $20. after tax.

the nitelight ,co one dont slip on right and come with some things to rivet them on and they are 20.00 at the same place i get sportdog lihts
