OHBC--Jackson, OH Sunday, 2/19/12 PKC Hound and Hunter and Large Pack Hunts

The Oak Hill Beagle Club in Jackson, Ohio invites beaglers to join us for two hunts. We will be holding two PKC hunts on Sunday, February 19 with entries closing at 7:00 AM for Hound and Hunter and 11:00 for the PKC Large Pack. This should be a great day of running, competition and fun.

The Large Pack format takes some of the best parts of all formats. Dogs will be scored on Speed and Drive like ARHA Big Pack and PKC Hound and Hunter. Strikes and jumps will be scored similar to ARHA Little Pack. Checks will be scored similar to AKC Large Pack and ARHA LP. Scoring will be done by 3 man teams of judges like PKC Hound and Hunter. When you put it all together, hopefully it will be a way to get the best overall hound in four hours of running. And a lot of guys are going to win some $$$

Numbers will be painted on dogs for the Large Pack, or you can dye them. To reserve a number call Jim McGuire at 740.412.7907.

Large Pack Format Rules

You can register your dog the day of the hunt. You can run the same dog for both hunts, or run different dogs at each hunt.

Deadline: 7:00 AM for Hound and Hunter, 11:00 for Large Pack
Entry Fee: $25.00 for H&H, $15 for Large Pack

Make sure you get permission to go deadeye....we are rolling out at 5am.

There has been an adjustment to the PKC Large Pack Rules. Handlers will be allowed to use shock and tracking collars during the hunt. Handlers can carry their transmitter and receiver in the field and use them whenever they want. You know, just like you are hunting.

This will give a handlers more of an opportunity to run young dogs, and correct them if they temporarily loose their mind and decide to run something other than a rabbit. This should make it better all around, and make it a little more like a hunt only with more people and more dogs.

Does the 3 hunt grace period apply to the Large Pack Hunts also? I've never tried this format, would like to try it.

Missed my wake up call at 4am to make it to Jackson hunt today. took the night off work just so I could make this hunt. Cant believe it!

does anyone know if frank found amber?

I sent him a PM last night and haven't heard back from him yet........I sure hope so that's a terrible thing to have to go through!!!!!
