How's The New Measuring System Goin In Lil Pack

well were almost a month in with the new measurin rule for lil pack and i have been rabbit huntin every weekend and not been to any trials,so was just wondering how it was workin out.i'm sure the big dogs of ARHA are happy,i heard that a club close to me "WONT MENTION ANY NAMES"had some dogs measure out and some of the handlers got to complainin how they wrer beeing stood or posed and they got a new breed inspecter and measured some of them back in but i was not there to no forsure.

It's a gigantic strain on the club and an extra cost having to buy extra measuring stands. Adds quite a bit of time to the field entry process, but at least the club gets nothing for it.

We had a 2 day trail at our club first weekend in jan, we messured around 40 dogs it took a lil longer to get everthang rolling with haveing to mesureing them. No dogs where messured out, i still do not like the rule, i think its a Chicken Crap rule but that is JMO! But all in all it was no Different then it allways was, just took a lil longer to get everthanging rolling

jmo im not sure how its going to ever work right,every person every dog measures defrant every time,never the same twice. i dont see how they can inforce a 1/4th inch when there is so many variables,its slowing the hunts,taking away some of the prime hunting hours. i just think there needs to be a little give not exsactly 15. ive seen them measure a dog 7 or 8 times and have 3/4 in variance,i know its a rule and needs inforced but there has to be something more acurate.... again jmo

All you have to do is look at the number of entries over the last few years. They clearly show just how out of touch those running LP are with beaglers. I really believe Little Pack gets great dogs back as winners and is an awesome format. It just seems like the management is set on running everyone off.

I sure wish that Del would come out and talk to guys at hunts. I think he would find people that really care about LP and want to make it work. The whole mess with measuring is just another example of how they have lost touch with the majority of guys coming to hunts.

well spoken! i love lp, its the biggest and most popular format around here,but as you say look at the numbers of dogs showing up anymore, get up EARLY and go to a hunt and your lucky if alot of places has enough for a hunt.this only further hurts the clubs and ultimatly NKCs bottom line!

Its not the rule its how they put it in place. Only certain stands can be used hmmmm I wander why and who benefits from this. Measurer all dogs before hunt but if u buy a official card u can by pass that process but still be measured out and challenged at the staging area so nothing really has changed except certain people r making more money and u the beagler r getting nothing AGAIN but ha keep going and supporting the crack house. Give them the money and just keep complaining about it. Boycott some of there decissions and quit giving them money and maybe just maybe they will really fix the problems. I doubt it but i guarantee they will not if u continue to go. Its sort of like a stripper keep giving her money and she will make u feel like u r getting lucky. Stop giving her money and u find out your luck has run out.

measuring the dogs was a big eye opener to alot of us. you know if a dog is to tall he has no business in a trail it takes a huge dog just to be fifteen inches. some of the dogs i just knew would be to tall were running 14 3/4 and 14 7/8. that serated end makes a huges difference. i have a double square i've used for measuring but its flat where it touches the dogs back. so i have gotten rid of dogs that i thought were to tall that weren't. it has been interesting and hasn't taken that much time. we have had some forty dog hunts.

I haven't gone to a trial yet, but curious as to timing of the procedure: do you have to wait in line and get measured before handing in your entry paperwork/fee (i.e. add more time to getting your dog entered before cutoff), or do you get your dog entered and then wait in line for measurement? If it's the first option, what's being done when the say 6:30 deadline arrives and there are 20 dogs waiting in line to be measured, with entry paperwork otherwise completed and ready for submission?

alot of places,you turn in your entry form then measured,if you get measured out you loose your entry money. witch wouldnt be that bad if that guy measuring could know without a shaddow of a dought your dog is over,they cant do that,everytime the same dog is measured its a defrant measurment,every person that measures gets deffrant readings, so who the heck knows what the dog truelly is anyhow! i know of a dog thats atleast 16.5 thats been hunting and placing this yr,how is that? the guy knows himself knows hes 16+, he had said himself last yr it was over for his dog after the first of the yr well i see hes still hunting placing! then you have dogs that are being stopped at the stand thats measuring as close as an 1/8th in? TO MANY VARIABLES!!!!!!! something else ive seen the stands setting on unlevel ground,shouldnt the stand be leveled up? there could be your 1/8th in.someone said it takes a hugge dog to measure 15, ive seen dogs that you would swear to be 14.5 measure over and set beside dogs measured in and clearly see the defrance. its just further politics,money,and the buddy system hard at work......JMO

BAD about the cards ive talked to several ppl who say if they draw out with a person who never went under the stand that they was going to contest the dog just because they had to wait in line and that they feel anyone with a card knows they could be measured out. im getting mine cards,there measurements are 14.5 but its solly to do with the defrances in the guys measuring. defrant ppl getting up to an inch defrance on the same dog is just crazzy!

listen all u have to do is become a bred inspector and have your buddy be a bred inspector just write down anything u want on the paper pay your 8 bucks and u r right back to the same rule and can run that big dog all day long. Del Morgan got his money and all is good. Now if I was still involved in NKC this is what i would do just to make a point and do not take this personal because i have never called a dog out. I would call every dog out in my cast everytime and hope that u have a card and hope that your dog measurered out just to show everyone u r fools to buy a OFFICIAL MEASURING CARD that is not so OFFICIAL. I bet u would not buy a car without a engine or would you. FOOLS!!!!!! Complain about the rich but r not willing to stand up for yourselfs. i understand your point, i think if a bunch would quit going it would prove a point but one or two isnt going to matter to del or nkc. i think the rule needs inforced i just think its impossable when you have so many variables and like iv said same dog defrant measurement everytime by the same person. get measured in at one hunt then out at the next. if their going to do this they need to have simanars on how to officially set up a stand and how to measure consistant, and all breed inspecters be made to attend. also some times they stand the dog as if he was on the bench,sometimes they drop the hammer as soon as it crawls threw. its not the new rule its the way that the measuring is going on thats so wrong. they are thinking every breed inspecter is of the same caliber and like robots that can all measure the same every time, well their dead wrong.it would be best to stick with 14in hounds just to be safe but when you have a gang of pups not all is going to stay exsactly the same size. some of the best hof nkc dogs is 16+ inchs. i think that there needs to be a cushin for all the veribles there can be,i can see if your measuring over 1/2 in every time under the stand not being able to run but when they get readings within a 1/4in that to me is to close to slam the door on. all in all i see lp and nkc going away in the next few yrs anyhow.pkc is booming and if they get close to our area i believe they will put lp out of bussness. just like akc midwest,if there was more hunts local it would hurt lp as well. from what ive heard lately midwest isnt must defrant running style dogs than lp anymore anyhow.
