i will be taking several dogs and getting some semen froze on them here in the near future. if any one is interested in getting this done and wants me to take their dog to have this done, i can do it. there are several things that need to be done before hand so if you are interested let me know. so far i am taking
1. pine mt chester
2. mikermas super dog
3. sullivan's go joe
4. possibly sandman 3

the price is actually pretty reasonable contrary to what most people think. if you have any questions you can call me at 270-535-6380.

gabe the cost of collection and freezing is not that bad i work in the ai field i have been thinking about this for a few years where the cost comes in is the insemination process there are only a few clinics that will do it around me and from what i gather the process is kind of the same as a c section around here 650.00 to do it. we are planning on taking a few dogs from up this way to get it done fc branko's cougar magnum and awful bawlin repeater the way i look at it it's a cheap investment for the future just think how much semen out of jack ranger dan ninja heli prop turbo moneysunk mountainman shaker and the list can go on

Gabe....How many litters have you ever seen from frozen semen. have you ever run with a hound or seen a hound from frozen semen.
I know it was tried with Jig's and Ali Ba Ba with no success.

I have run many greyhound cross (aka day time coonhound field trial dogs) that were product of AI, no problems. My question would be does the AKC recognize AI produced pups ?

the insemenation is not all that expensive. for the surgical it is 150 dollars. for the artificial it is 35 dollars. progesterone tests are reccommeneded to catch the bitches peak fertility. he claims to get the bitch insemenated it usually costs 200-300 for the tests and everything.

an english bulldog breeder reccommended him to me. he was 7 for 7 with his bulldogs on this process.

there is a lady on here that has had it done with her show dogs successfully. (honey pot hounds). she is the only one i know of even attempting this. this guy freezes in pellets rather than straws which increases the success, according the vets i have spoke with on this.

I saw a litter of 14 Redbone pups in Missouri. The guy had an outstanding Redbone and had the foresight to collect straws, as they called it back then and had them stored. One straw was used in this breeding. I think he had around 20 straws. His phone was ringing off the wall because this dog was know to reproduce.

dr.mark burke is the vet who will be doing this and he stores it there. he is located in smithville, tn. i plan to be at central illinois trial on 3-4-06. if you want to bring postman to me there i would be happy to take him too.

cpc
the collection and freeze is 200. it is 50 dollars a year to store it and the first year is free.

dr. burke has a 90 % success rate with the surgical insemenation

I dont disagree with storing semen out of great producers, but what do you all think of that quote?

Have you ever wished that you had some semen from some deceased or old and infertile dog CH XXX to breed to a current bitch to create what you think would be the ultimate litter of little Beagles?
And maybe there were some better breeders of Beagles and/or some long lost crosses that produced exceptional Beagles in the past. I see more mediocre than exceptional Beagles out there in both show & hunting stock.
As far as frozen semen litters, I had one last May. Four lovely pups. Two that are Major pointed and on their way to their Championships. The other two placed as family pets. The male I kept to show I probably will be selling because he is too closely related to all of my bitches. I plan to freeze semen from him before I let him go. I am surely to have some bitch down the road that I will want to breed to him for any number of reasons...especially if I DON'T save some of his sperm

question...

If you keep sperm from him and sell him.... wouldn't you have to have the new owner sign off on the breeding... since, at the time of breeding your name wouldn't be on the dogs certificate?
