Hunting Video

Post by rimshot »

Does anyone video their dogs while hunting or just out running them? I got my first cam in 1988 and have more hunting tapes than I do family tapes. Would anyone like to swap a tape? I use a 8mm now, but would record to a VHS tape. Good way of learning some techniques from other hunters and watching some different style dogs. Could get a video pool going...

Rimshot... Like you I've had video camea for a while. Unfortunately I must say I've only video tape my hounds once. However that's probably one of my most treasured items. Has footage of a female of mine that passed away on my last year. As each day passes, I miss that ole hound more and more, but at least I can always watch her run. Just recently through a friend of mine, I got hooked up with some video editing software for my computer. Therefore I plan on videoing a lot more in the near future. I've already learned how to add background music and titles to the tapes. Learn a little more each day. When I get some more footage I'd be happy to trade tapes with you. I think my camera is VHS-C, but I've got the attachments to record stuff on bigger tapes. Or I can save it on CD-Roms in MPEG or AVI type movie files if need be.

Good day and good running to you.

If you convert them to .AVI or .MPEG, you can transfer them over ICQ. If you ever get around to it, I would be interested in receiving a copy.

Hey Fuzz, I have all my dogs from the day they were born, until their last hunt. I will say the best I have is some of my old hunting buddies that is no longer with us. My wife tells me we have a video package on the computer that I can put onto CD's. I will work on it. I worked on a VHS tape today. When I tape my dogs, if I can hear them, I keep recording them. I'm taking a lot of that out. Fuzz if you will email me your mailing address, I will get a tape,VHS, in the mail to you. Good Running...

Rabbit Runner I will see what I can do on a CD for you. Guest, I'm not sure what you are saying, but I will get with our computer man at work.

Rimshot, I'll email you my address a tad later. That's very interesting that you have all of them on tape since they were a pup. That'd be cool to be able to see how one's owns has progressed since puppy stage. I hadn't thought about doing something like that, but now you're giving me more and more ideas. Got a young male that I think is going to be a world beater when he gets older. Perhaps I should get started videoing him now and see how he turns out by the time he's two. That's just a year away.

As for whomever suggesting me editing their tapes for them. I wish I could, but time restraints catch up. I'd rather spend my free time running hounds. Only time I doing something computer wise is late in the evenings or on hard rainy days. Nevertheless I wish I could... Who knows I could always start a business doing such... Anyhow wanna spot me the cash to make the switch? Hmm darnit... didn't think so... Ha ha.

Good running to y'all
