i put a sprinkler in front of my pens and run the water hose on the front porch where i can get to it and when they start turn it on it works great.

I also use the hose to train them in the summer. I have about 5 months a year that its too cold to actually turn it on but I leave a hose hanging outside their kennel and if I yell shut up they usually stop but when they don't I walk out and pick up the hose and point it at them, works everytime, they dive in dog house and are quiet. I hope noone ever tells them that it doesn't spray in the winter. LOL Hare

Well i tried it this moring and it shut them up for about 5 minutes then they started again I think i am going to have to repeat this process over and over untill they learn. My male dog is the one that starts it all and the other two join right in.

I was talkin to some guys at a trial and one said he had an automatic sprinkler that comes on from the sound of barking. That's what I need. Anyone know where to get it?

If it were me, I would first hose 'em then I would shock 'em. You'd get a good connection then. I'd bet their eyes would light up then, ey? Just my opinion, I'm an electrician by trade.

First is to understand what's got them riled up.
I can't see where dousing them all, for the sins of one, teaches them anything...

The only thing I can think is that they want to come out of there cage and run some bunnies. They bark and howl they are just sitting there by the door waiting to come out. I don't have a fenced in backyard to let them run around in so they have to stay caged up till I get a chance to walk them and that is only after work. But I run them every weekend Fri Sat Sun for about 2-3 hours on those days. As soon as i let them out it is nose to the ground searching they are rabbit crazy. I wish you all could see it.

Thanks that's what I want.

It is the price of a well bred pup. If it keeps my neighbors happy with me, it's cheap. I have a couple of dogs I don't want to get rid of that have too much mouth in the kennel. Shock collars and a garden hose only work when I'm home. It's when I'm not home I worry about. The other option is to get rid of the barkers.

The shock collars do work great. Honey is wearing one right now :D and she is my #1 Beagle...if it is good enough for her...

I have the bark activated sprinkler system in my pen and it works very well. One thing i have learned over the years is that when dogs get about 7 months old they like listening to themselves bark.I use the bark limiter collar from tri-tronics when they start this.Usually after a couple of weeks they learn to keep quiet in the pen.The sprinkler does help somewhat but nothing is fullproof when they know it's feeding time!!!I purchased the sprinkler from lion country.Very easy to operate system.Using both of these techniques my dogs know what I expect from them.QUIETNESS!!!

I've tried the water hose, and now I'm on the bark collar's and it doesn't seem to work. I have went from scolding to really thumpin them and I mean putting it to them. I have one male that will be quiet as a mouse when he is wearing the collar but I'll be ****** if he doesn't bark when its off, collar smart I believe. And it's mainly one of my males and he has a couple small faults that are really no big deal by any means but the barking will put me over the edge in getting rid of him. This one problem barker has driven me crazy.
