Straight legged beagles

THIS OLE CROOKED LEGGED DOG HAS RAN UP NORTH PLACES LIKE WIS AND PLACED.AND HE RUNS GOOD IN AL.BREEDING IS THE MOST ImPORTANT when it comes to rabbit dogs an not just for straight legs.This type topic really gets me ,because looks are more inportant then ability. Now what matters to me is how they look in the field.

Here's the deal. I breed for speed but 9 times out of ten I end up with straight-legged beagles. I could care less what he looks like. I run beagle on fox. Our trials are basically big races. I need fast dogs. My best brood bitch. Brand's Summerette in the pic further up the thread. She's tougher than hell but she ain't no trial dog. In fox-beagling she's the equivalent to a really good gun dog that just don't have the speed to run say Large Pack. Good dog, just not fast. But she's throws fast, straight-legged pups. So all in all, I breed for speed, not straight legs.....That's just what I end up with 9 times out of 10.

Not trying to start anything R-chaser but borrow a copy of Hounds and Hunting magazine and look in the brace trial pictures. No one will have to point the crooked legged ones out to you - the pictures speak for themselves!
