I don't trial, go out every now and again for a look. Right now I have a young 15" male who is fast and wreckless and needs to gear down. Good on the snow because it slows him down, but if he learns to slow down, he might be a good one. There hasn't been many hare around NS last year, I wouldn't shoot one because it would take too long to find another one to run. Do you remember the year in the Highlands when you could shoot 50 rabbits in a day? Not like that anymore, more coyote tracks than rabbit tracks in most places.

I have heard that the rabbit and deer #s are way down in NS. when I was home last summer it took my over an hour to get a start with some great searching hounds. I can't believe people are still shooting them down there. Don't have that problem out here. Lots of hare and no beaglers. Can you run hounds in July down there? I am going down next week and can't remember if the woods are still closed then or not.

Woods are closed from beggining of April till end of June. You can run now, I don't go out too much. Flies are thick, scenting is poor and too busy salmon fishing. I usually go early in the morning or if it rains. I don't like to go out in the evenings too much this time of year. My last dog was killed by coyotes this time of year. They are protective if their young are around. There doesnt' seem to be any shortage of them. You bringing your hounds with you?

I thought there was going to be a trial at southwest club mid July but I was wrong. So I will leave them behind and run my fathers if the flies aren't too bad. He has three nice Otterbrook hound that I want to see more of. Two littermates are out of TOPDOG's last litter and the male is suppose to be real good. I am considering breeding to him so it will be good to watch him some more. Do you have any Otterbrook stuff or just Branko?
