I sold Mel a very nice male a couple of months ago,he had alot of hounds. I have a couple of buddys that deal with Mel alot, they seem happy with what they get from him. He sold a friend one of the best Jump dogs I've seen in these parts. He has a place to try hounds at his house.

I have dealt with him. Try out before you buy. No one with that many dogs can really tell you that much about any of them or as far as I'm concerned hunt them as much as they should be.

I bought a couple hounds off of him when I first got into rabbit hunting. I didn't know much about it and ol Mel sounded like he knew his stuff. So me and my brother went up and bought a couple grade dogs off of him. He didn't even offer to put the dogs on the ground and as little as knew at the time I didn't know it was an option. So we brought 3 dogs home he told us would run a rabbit and has been shot around. He told us he has shot around all of his hounds. Well one dog wouldn't even run a rabbit, one had seziures as soon as we turned lose, and the other was gun shy. You live and learn. I will never buy another hound without trying it out first. I got burned bad. As far as I am concerned I would not waste my time or gas money to drive up there. If you really want a hound off of him then make sure you watch it run first. I would try to talk him into giving you a week trail or something. Good Luck
